What do you guys think of doing something like this? I haven't seen the jersey idea around, but I think it's a good one. I'm not sure what the next step is, but I wanted to make sure Jim S. is comfortable with the mentions of ASFN and if you're all comfortable with being included. If not, I can just make it from me...

40 yard lines red
Black patch
Retired number
Proceed sales of jersey

All good ideas that I would back with my name.

Instead of honoring just Tillman, the Cardinals should honor all the falled soliders who have died during in Iraq that have Arizona ties. People die over there every single day, Pat was just one of many

On the message board where I hang out the most (a sports logos/uniforms forum), a few of the guys have been starting to design some tribute patches. Here's the link:

I would guess that in a few days, you might see quite a few more. A lot of the guys on the board are professional graphic designers (although there's quite a few amateurs as well), so I'm hoping something really nice and appropriate comes out of it.

Cool design Pantone194C. I like the Black Cardinal head with #40 on top of it!

You know the humility of Pat Tillman is evident in the fact he never gave an interview, photo opportunity, or ask for any special circumstances regarding his enlistment. He did what his conscience told him to do and that was to make the choice to serve his country. His choice to serve makes him a hero. The one thing Pat would have hated is the special attention he will be given tomorrow on ESPN's coverage of the draft. Even in death Pat would not want attention or special accomodations. He was a one of a kind man who will be missed. I hope the Cardinals retire the number 40 in his honor. I also think it would be nice if the league retired the number 40 league wide for one year. That's just the thing Pat would really dislike. My prayers are for his wife, parents, and immediate family. God bless you Pat and God bless the United States.

I agree with you 100% SMAC.

But I would like to see this happen. Have a covered tunnel where on the top it say #40 TILLMANS TUNNEL as the Cardinals come out. It would let everbody know who #40 is. Its like a kid watching the cardinal for the first time asking Dad who is #40 and Dad saying that was a great man who gave his life for his country and was also a Cardinal!!

He is one of many but sometimes it takes someone like Tillman to raise the awareness of the many who have fallen. He like Ted Williams and Joe Dimaggo who raised awareness during WWII has the power even in death to raise the awareness of his brothers who have died in combat. Honoring him in no way lessens the others who have died in combat. It shows we have Americans who put honor, duty, country above wealth and being a hero on the football field. Articles are appearing all over the place and wether we want it or not he is being singled out as somone who is special. He would not have wanted this as he was very low profile and shyed away from all publicity. He may not have wanted to be a hero but he will become one

That my friend is the greatest idea I have ever heard. I would love to see that happen.

Thanks, Mike. I also think that the 40th row of the new stadium should be a different color than all the others. If all the seats are going to be red, a white circle around the stadium would be cool.

I just heard on the radio that a national sports radio talk show guy is going to petition to the NFL that EVERY 40 yard line markers on every field be so marked.
I don't know why but this is the post that got me. I am freaking balling here. I have goosebumps.

I edited that one. Since the background would be black the bird can't be black with the number being white.
