Surprisingly little has been heard about how he is progressing. That being said, in my recent edition of ProFootball Weekly, "Whispers" section, it said..........we are hearing that LeVar Fisher is not destined to remain on the team for much longer..............any comments here?

LeVar Woods was just moved to strongside, opening up a weakside job. If Levar Fisher's knees hold up, he could beat out Ray Thompson. Remener, Fisher has only had one week of practice.

But hasnt Darling been moved to the weak side as well. Although I think Fisher does have the edge on Darling.

Does any one know how many LB's Green usually keeps on the 53 man roster, 6 or 7?

Although I think Fisher makes the top 6 I am just wondering about the possible 7th guy.

I have SLB: Dansby; Woods; Fisher MLB:Hayes; McKinnon and WLB: Thompson; Darling

Fisher is going full speed in practice. I'm hoping we see him play Saturday.

Damaged goods. If he plays more than four games in a row this year I will be amazed.

He played in 16 games last season! He's played more career pro games than Kyle Vanden Bosch! Give the kid a freaking break.

on a bad knee that limited his production... so that wont get it done for much longer.

Levar Fisher was arguably our best linebacker last season when Mac let him on the field. It's not his fault Mac left Ronald-freaking-McKinnon in on passing downs.

not arguing that, but we need people we can depend on in the long run.. the guy has an injury problem and it can only be a matter of time before they need to look elsewhere

clif,

You sure play hardball from your armchair.

I happen to think that Fisher's knees will cause his career to end earlier than later. He has fought gimpy kness all through college so that is the reality. This is why being able to draft Dansby was so fortuitous. They have as you have said "looked elsewhere".

Having said this, Fisher deserves the chance to show whether or not he can overcome the odds.......cause if he can, we will have one of the best WILL LB's in the business and Thompson's days as a Cardinal are done.

You have to also factor in LeVar Woods. He is multi dimensional (and gave Thompson a real run for the starters job this camp). We have depth at all LB positions so we can give Fisher all the time he needs to rehab. It would not be the first time a player has returned from knee surgery and never looked back.

Feeble......very feeble response.

Well, not really...Boldin is a Pro Bowler. Fisher...er...hasn't really done anything. I do believe that was his point, and the only thing 'feeble' here are Fisher's knees :p

He played on "D" or didn't you know... :D
and did what on D??? how plays did he make? ... not much... the point is.. the guy has an injury and will have to battle for a spot, which at this point looks like he might get.. I, however, would not be surprised if he is cut.

What plays has Raynoch made? Or James Darling? Or the much-heralded Hayes? And yet they're apparent "locks" to make the team!?

Levar Fisher had some great passes defensed last season. At least a couple of them forced punts. This, despite being exiled from the field on obvious passing downs. And in the absence of a pass rush.

Don't hyperventilate.

There was a smilie and the end of my interjection. The point being that knee, and other operations, are part of the sport. It's all a question of whether they recuperate fully. Fisher may turn into an All-Pro... and Boldin may turn out to be a one season wonder due to knee problems: We simply do not know at this point. :)

i recall commenting that the guy may not last because of an injury .. not his play.. then someone wanted to make a ridiculous comparison between Fisher and Boldin... so I went along and obviously there is no comparison. IMO the guy is treading on thin ice just because he has been injured since his rookie year. I am not questioning whether or not he can play.. unless of course you try to invalidate my comments by comparing him to a pro bowler (see above comments )

No hyperventilating here... you took my comment about needing someone you can depend on and ran with it... the guy is treading on thin ice... sure it is all up to how well he responds, but that does not mean he isn't on the bubble.
