You wouldn't be an idiot. In fact, I wouldn't mind it if both of our tackles were rookies.

If Grimm really is the best OLine coach in the league, you want to take someone who would follow everything that he says. A rookie would be much more willing to do that than a veteran. Starting OLine rookies isn't the best idea, but in our case, the unknown is probably better than the known.

That said, I know it won't happen.

Far from it, the Steelers lines under him were far from dominant. He's a good OL coach but nothing special like so many seem to think. I posted the numbers on a different thread but there is only 1 time in the past 4 or 5 seasons that the Steelers allowed less sacks then we did last year, rushing ypc were very good right around 4 ypc (with one year at like 3.3 ypc--by comparison the Cards were 3.2 last year).

I don't think he is such a big upgrade over Loney.

Two Tackles

There's been a lot of speculation about selecting two tackles in the Draft. I do remember one year when the Cards picked Luis Sharpe(UCLA) in the first and Tootie Robbins(East Carolina??) in the second or third round, and they worked out very well. Hopefully, a one-two punch this year will work out as well.

I agree that Grimm will not be a huge upgrade. Loney was very capable of getting the job done. But Grimm is known for being a great leader and motivator. Playing with heart and taking pride in your blocking is something our OL has lacked forever. Grimm is perfect for that.

Also Ernest Dye and Ben Coleman 1993, James Dexter and Harry Stamps 1996.

Sad thing is that the Cards drafted an OT with their 3rd pick in 1998, 1st in 1999 and 1st in 2001 and had, according to many, horrible offensive lines ever since.
