Mar. 25—MITCHELL — With the winter sports season in the rear view mirror, area high school boys basketball players were recognized by their local conferences.
A summary of all the area players selected are listed below, sorted by conference:
Winner's Carter Craven, a sophomore, and senior Shawn Hammerbeck were both named to the all-Southeast South Dakota Conference first team, helping guide the Warriors to a Class A SoDak 16 appearance. Craven, the leading vote-getter, was also named the conference's most valuable player.
Joining the Winner duo on the first team were Parkston sophomore Brycen Bruening, Gregory senior Cruz Klundt and Platte-Geddes senior Hayden Sprik.
Klundt's Gorillas teammates, junior Colt Keiser and senior Noah Bearshield, were named to the all-conference second team following Gregory's Class B SoDak 16 appearance, as was Parkston senior James Deckert, Mount Vernon/Plankinton junior Tyce Feistner and Wagner senior Parker Petry.
The all-SESD third team is composed of Wagner seniors Brady Cournoyer and Preston McFayden, Parkston sophomore Mason Jervik, Platte-Geddes senior Braxton Breukelman, Winner senior Aiden Schroeder and Chamberlain junior Blaze Knippling.
Wagner and Tripp-Delmont/Armour each led the all-Little Missouri Valley Conference selections with four players each named to the team.
Seniors Preston McFayden, Parker Petry and Brady Cournoyer, along with sophomore Jesse Zephier represent the Red Raiders on the roster. The Nighthawks selected were seniors Isaac Wunder, Riley Spaans, Reegan Loneman and Dalton Westendorf.
In the first year of the co-op's existence, Scotland/Menno netted three players on the all-conference team, led by seniors Trent Guthmiller and Kory Keppen, and junior Izayah Ulmer. Andes Central/Dakota Christian seniors Garth Maas, Ryden Niewenhuis and Hunter Loeffler garnered recognition as the Thunder's three selections.
Bon Homme and Avon had two players named to the roster. Sophomore Logan Stark and freshman Madden Merkwan made the roster for the Cavaliers, and senior Aziah Meyer and junior Al'Shamon Gunter represented the Pirates on the all-LMVC team.
In the same vein as the all-Cornbelt Conference girls first-team selections, Bridgewater-Emery, Howard, Freeman and Hanson each had a player selected to the all-conference boys first team.
Howard senior Luke Koepsell, Hanson senior Ben Wilber, Bridgewater-Emery junior Ben Weber and Freeman freshman David Walter all netted first-team recognition.
Wilber's brother, AJ Wilber, was named to the all-Cornbelt second team for the SoDak A 16-qualifying Beavers, as was senior Carson Hinker for Howard, helping the Tigers reach the Class B SoDak 16. Freeman junior Tate Sorensen was also named to the second team.
Sorensen's teammate Luke Peters, a sophomore, was named to the all-conference third team for the Flyers, who finished in sixth place at the Class B state tournament. Bridgewater-Emery junior Holden Wollman and Hanson senior Sutton Dewald were also given third-team honors, as was Canistota senior Brady Scott.
Juniors Parker Graff and Colby Flowers were both named to the all-281 Conference first team for Wessington Springs, which finished in fourth place at the Class B state tournament.
Spartans teammates Karter Mebius and Ryder Michalek, both seniors, garnered all-conference second team honors, as did Sanborn Central/Woonsocket junior Landon Jensen. Juniors McCoy Schultz and Grant Edwards represent the Blackhawks on the all-conference third team.
Gregory led all teams with five all-South Central Conference selections, led by seniors Cruz Klundt and Noah Bearshield, and juniors Lincoln Juracek and Colt Keiser. Additionally, senior Cole Serr was an all-conference honorable mention pick.

Wildkats teammates Park Sinclar and Cooper Leiferman, both seniors, made the all-South Central roster while senior Jay Dee Gough and sophomore Keaton Christensen were honorable mentions.
Additionally, Burke seventh grader Brody Indahl was named to the all-conference roster. Cougars teammate Quinten Bull, a senior, was named as an honorable mention, as was Colome senior Jonah Musser.
Corsica-Stickney and Andes Central/Dakota Christian each led Mitchell-area teams with three all-Great Plains Conference selections. Jaguars seniors Tyson Wentland and Jarret Olawsky were named to the roster with junior Jett Kemp selected as an honorable mention. Seniors Ryder Niewenhus and Garth Maas made the team for the Thunder, and senior Hunter Loeffler garnered an honorable mention nod.
