Listening to the Media Coverage after Game1...

...and it's no surprise. Celtics can still win, they just need to tweak blah blah blah. As I recall, after Game 1 vs. the Suns - for every objective Suns analyst trying to figure out needed changes, there were 15-20 'experts' saying what a great series Lakers vs. Celtics is going to be. The Suns were written off during the second quarter of Game 1, but the Celtics just played without energy and will bounce back.

The Series is still young and only one game has been played on the Lakers' home court. However, from my perspective, the Celtics don't seem to have a better chance of winning this Series than the Suns. Of course, all of this is expected, and I just sound bitter complaining about it.

To be fair - I am bitter.

i didn't realize just how bitter I was until I started watching the game. I'm done with basketball this season... or at least until the Celtics get a lead in the series... which basically means I'm done with basketball this season.

living in LA for the next month will be intolerable.

kg is a warrior and plays as hard as he can. But he is so done at this point it is scary.
He obviously got shot up at the beginning of the playoffs and the effects are now wearing off. He has fallen off so badly I fully expected him to blow that open layup he had in the 4th.

Boston doesn't need his offense but they have to find a way to free pierce/allen and rondo has to be better. If rondo is hurt this is a 5 game series.

I was as objective as possible going into this series, not caring which team wins. This helped me notice that Mike Breen was practically rooting for the Lakers with his play-by-play. He was always giddy when the Lakers did anything well and was very matter-of-fact on most of the Celtics good plays. How about the part where Fisher could be retired by the Celtics, but not the Lakers. Which former Celtics with retired numbers were worse than Fisher?

Back in '93 or so I was watching a Suns/Sonics game on NBC featuring Steve "Snapper" Jones and whomever else (I think he was the Blazers normal commentator at the time). When Shawn Kemp would as much as hit a jump shot or make a layup, the announcer would get excited and make a big deal about it. Then, Barkley would come up with a fast break dunk on the other end and the announcer would have no comment and then start gushing about the Sonics after they inbounded the ball again.

Biased coverage is hard to enjoy, whether you have a stake in the game or not.

At least Breen gets balanced somewhat by Van Gundy and Jackson. They both prefer the "Eastern" style of play and it shows up in many of their comments. Let's face it, if it was up to those two the refs wouldn't have made a call all night. If the refs "let them play" it clearly favors the Celtics.

Steve Jones was the biggest jerk I've ever listened to. He absolutely despised the Suns and ripped us whenever he could and not just in the game you mention but throughout his broadcast career. It didn't matter who we played, if Jones was doing the game he was going to slant in favor of our opponent. I doubt he had any love for Seattle other than they weren't Phoenix.

I'm not sure which "Barry son" it is who covers the NBA for tv but that dude is an ignorant fool. Making statements before gm 1 like (paraphrasing) the Lakers have been playing against YMCA defense for the last 2 weeks and now they're gonna face a real defense(against Boston).
I mean ok, the SUNS do have a long way to go to become a great defensive team but come on....i wanted to smack him in the mouth.

It's just sickening. Considering we were down by as much as 11 in the quarter and fought back to tie it up, you'd figure we'd have momentum going into overtime, and have a fair chance to win it. Just another Suns blunder which took us tantalizingly close to the promised land, then pulled the rug out.

One of them does games and is okay. Brent Barry is in studio and he's a complete douche. You can tell he makes the other two guys uncomfortable with his combative attitude.
