Livengood just said his contract won't be renewed. He's pursuing the UNLV job in earnest.

Will his replacement be internal? External? What about Lute Olson?

They could put a monkey in there and he'd probably do a better job than Livengood. ;)

Chris Del Conte probably would've been the guy a few months ago. Lute Olson has zero chance or desire for several reasons the most notably being health.

I'd assume it would be someone with connections to Robert Shelton or big boosters. The guy has to be a fundraiser with some balls as cutting programs and obtaining huge donations is vital in this climate.

EDIT - Oh yeah, and good riddance to Livengood.

No to Moos, and I agree Del Conte would have been the guy and a good hire IMO, but that ship has sailed.

It's a great day to be a Wildcat!

No on Moos - I highly doubt the University wants to get into a pissing contest with Nike.

Livengood couldn't sell insulin to a diabetic. I don't think he is going to sell Dykes on coming to UNLV

He wants someone with head coaching experience. I have an idea and Smiley Jim would obviously go for it...

That was just mean and vindictive, Mao. Mean and vindictive. Why don't you just wish a pox on the Rebel players? Festering sores? A plague?

Why would Dykes go to UNLV? Bad facilities, no fan base and no chance of competing with the Utahs and BYUs of the conference.

As I alluded to before, Livenbad wont convince Dykes to come with him. Dykes will wait for an actual football school to have an opening. In the mean time, he is boosting his resume by having success at UofA

What serious baggage does Hauck have, other than choking in three National Championship games?

Mao's guilty of a little hyperbole there. Jerry Tarkanian has baggage. Bobby Huggins has baggage. Hauck has ... maybe a small carry on bag.

He recruits thugs. Two Montana players allegedly beat up a fellow student to a pulp. But no charges were filed, so no school official could speak to it. Hauck could have simply repeated school policy, but chose to cuss out a reporter for the student newspaper over the issue, creating a mess out of what should have been a non-issue (in terms of Hauck's reputation).

He's sort of an egomaniac and played no small role in recruiting trouble makers to Washington under Neuheisel. Remember Jeremy Stevens? He was a Hauck recruit. Jeremiah Pharms? A Hauck recruit. And so on.

Hauck isn't a known cheater. He just has little regard for doing things the Paterno way.

The guy was Rick Neuheisel's henchman when he destroyed a proud Washington program. He recruits criminals to Missoula and Seattle so I can't imagine the degenerates he's going to get in Vegas. His run at UNLV might be nice for a year or two but end really ugly.

What school doesn't have a few "thugs"?

The "criminal" issues were way over blown by the school newspaper, who for some reason absolutely detest the football team and everyone associated with it.

Majority of the kids on Montana's roster are from Montana - most of the rest from the Northwest.

Most schools have thugs, they just don't recruit them after being booted out of other programs, have outstanding warrants, or been convicted in the court of law. We all know your Big Sky homerism knows no bounds but Bobby Hauck has been around the West Coast awhile. He knows Colorado, the Northwest, and California and has won big at Montana. Yet he has never gotten serious attention from any MWC, WAC, or Pac-10 program until now.

The guy's a slimeball. Saying home invasion, sexual assault, and physical intimidation are overblown is insulting as is saying it's only the school newspaper after him. Hauck has been deservedly dinged by every media outlet in Montana over the type of player he recruits.

I didn't realize every Wildcat was a Saint. I didn't realize you followed Montana football so closely, and read all the Montana media outlets. My bad.

Not every Wildcat is a saint. I should know this as a former Wildcat later became a prized recruit for Hauck after Mike Stoops kicked him out of Tucson for incidents off the field (I heard he flashed a gun at a party amongst other things). This player later landed in jail for an armed home invasion in Montana. It might shock you but most coaches in this country choose not to have gun-waving headcases with awful grades join their program.

And as far as your second point goes - I do follow college football. It's not my fault you don't follow your own conference enough to realize one of it's coaches has been a scumbag at every level for the better part of the last decade.
