I've captured myself constantly listening to their music and they are definitely among one of the most underrated/under-appreciated bands of all-time...

Most just think of "Cult of Personality" and "Glamour Boys" whenever they may come to mind, however, Living Colour is just beyond those 2 songs... True.. "Cult of Personality" is one of the best songs of the 80s, but just listen to their rest of their catalogue and you may be equally impressed....

Vernon Reid is one of the best lead-guitarist out there... Calhoun and Wimbish (who replaced Skillings) form an excellent rhythm section, and no way possibly would I forget to give credit toward Corey Glover..who is a top-notch vocalist/lyricist.....

Check-out the following concert website and do keyword search of Living Colour and you'll come across a sparkling performance from 11/01/04.. its amazing.... Contains most of their hits and also several songs from their last album.. 2004's "Collideøscope" (which I discussed underthis link: http://www.arizonasportsfans.com/vb/showthread.php?t=44270&highlight=living+colour).

That's the site that contains the particular concert along w/other memorable ones from other bands....

I would recommend anyone to check-out "Staind" (which is probably their least acclaimed album, but solid all through-out) and of course no one can go wrong w/"Vivid" & "Time's Up"....

I was privileged to see them live in '89 when they were opening up for the Rolling Stones on their "Steel Wheels" tour and I was just amazed on how incredible they are.......

Anyone else fans of their music? If not... you must really check them out.. they still rock after all these years.....

I saw these guys open for, of all people, Robert Palmer, at the Mann Music Center in Philly around 1988/1989. They kicked ass! Incredible!!! I have been a fan ever since. "Cult of Personality" is one of my all-time favorite songs.

Saw them with Primus at the Mesa Amphitheatre when I was in high school. Some crappy Urban Crap Squad was supposed to open the show- they cancelled and Primus showed up. Great show. Guitars and drums were fantastic. My friend Bob lost a shoe.

Urban Dance Squad? :biglaugh:

Reason why Im laughing at that.. just cannot see them opening-up for Living Colour.... Would just be odd when Jimi Hendrix opened-up for the Monkees back around '67.... FYI... Urban Dance Squad is a one-hit wonder w/their 1990 hit "Deeper Shade of Soul"......

If it was around '90 or '91... Living Colour would be touring in support of "Time's Up"... which would have been the best time to capture them live actually since that album is just as excellent as "Vivid"....

I actually still have the single on cassette. I really liked those guys, they had some other good stuff, but then again I was 12 when I listened to them.

I saw Living Colour at the Cajun House (or whatever it's called now) about a year and a half ago. Great show. Their newer music is really moody, & it's great to see them still kicking. They were a great band, but unfortunately also a flash-in-the-pan with "The Cult of Personality". Definitely one of the best one hit wonders, though.

If you think about it, even some bands like Dream Theater are 1 hit wonders (Pull Me Under).

A lot of guitarists really liked Vernon Reid as a guitarist (the dude from Living Colour). IMO, he used to do some pretty imaginitive stuff, but recently when I saw them, his playing was a bit sloppy for a performing, paid musician.

No, no, no. They opened for Robert Palmer. Strange combination, huh? My man and I couldn't believe it. Forgive my high school stereotyping mentality, but we couldn't believe that the group that walked out on the stage would rock the way they did. They were truly one of, if not, thee best opening acts I have ever seen at a concert.
