CARDINALS PREPARE FOR
2007 NFL DRAFT
Tempe, AZ – The Arizona Cardinals, who currently have the 5th overall selection in the first round, await the 2007 NFL Draft that will take place this Saturday and Sunday, April 28-29.
The NFL Draft begins at 9 a.m. (MST) on Saturday and continues until the completion of the first three rounds, then resumes at 8 a.m. (MST) on Sunday until its conclusion. For the second consecutive year, fans can follow the draft on two networks – ESPN/ESPN2 and NFL Network.
The Cardinals draft day media headquarters will be located in the media workroom at the team’s south Tempe training facility (8701 S. Hardy Dr). Arizona Cardinals Head Coach KEN WHISENHUNT, Vice President of Football Operations ROD GRAVES, and appropriate staff members will speak with the media following the Cards’ early round selections and throughout the draft weekend.
This will be the first draft for the tandem of Graves and Whisenhunt. Over the past three years, Graves has been instrumental in selecting players in the early rounds of the draft that will be counted on this year as key contributors. Last year QB Matt Leinart, G Deuce Lutui and TE Leonard Pope were selected, in 2005 CB Antrel Rolle, RB J.J. Arrington and CB Eric Green were picked, and in 2004 WR Larry Fitzgerald, LB Karlos Dansby, and DT Darnell Dockett were taken. Over the course of the last three draft classes, 18 of the 21 players selected are still on the Cardinals roster.
The Cardinals own six selections in the draft with one pick in each round except the sixth.
2007 Draft Party-The Arizona Cardinals Draft Party presented by Alltel will take place on Saturday, April 28 at University of Phoenix Stadium-Insight Club East from 8:00 a.m.-1:00 p.m. Fans will have the opportunity to meet Cardinals players, cheerleaders and mascot Big Red while watching the first day of the draft live. A breakfast buffet as well as concession stand offerings will be available and admission is free. A Kids Zone for children will be offered and Cardinals merchandise will be available for sale.
