No. It is the fact that he tries to make this signing/situation seem confusing/confounding. Instead of applauding the Cards for signing both first rounders he acts as if they just stumbled into it.

And suggests that the player agrees with him, even though the quote does not support that. It is a trash article.

Bingo.

If you read the first article again he basically said that there will almost certainly be a long holdout now with Johnson. one day later he signs and instead of saying wow I was wrong, he implies we backed him into a corner, and even says the deal is significantly higher than #17 got last year as if we now overpaid to get him in.

Who cares we have all this caproom and we have everyone signed.

Yeah I guess I can see that POV as well.

All these sports writers have huge egos, do you really think he would ever say he was wrong-I doubt it.

I still hold my contention though that Segal probably alerted him to the possible grievance versus him just throwing it out there. Of course I could be giving him too much credit!!

Possibly, we will most likely never know.

If this had been the Raiders, or Cowboys, or any of the other media darlings, Pasquarelli would have been applauding their negotiating savvy. Since it's the Cardinals, we just seemd to stumble and bumble our way into getting both picks signed. I'm not going to start to yell about media bias, but you can tell that many writers and media figures do not have a whole lot of respect for us.

F***'em.

I think it is fuuny how he says we went around BJ to sign Pace? When in fact we started with our last pick ended with our first.

If we signed BJ 1st we would have been reaching around Pace to sign him?

I will file Pasquarelli’s column in the “Damned if you do, damned if you don’t” file—

All the talk after the draft from the various talking heads was how these guys probably wont be signed until late September, how Bill will jam a below market deal on them, etc

Then when Pace gets signed, the reaction is “ but they will end up screwing Johnson” – and implying an ugly holdout

Then Johnson gets signed, using the type of contract terms that the Cards have long been bashed for ignoring and the press is dumbfounded.

Pasquarelli is incapable of even suggesting that the front office might be changing here – he, like most of the national (and local) press is so reflexively “Cardinals are dumb” that the thought never crossed his mind.

If anything we went RIGHT OVER BJ to sign Pace !

Frankly my only concern in this whole thing is they missed some practices, and now Pace has a 4 year deal not 5. Other than that I think this is a brand new example of Graves' influence on this team, I'm really starting to like this positive stuff.

Both Pace and Johnson have four year deals with a team option for a fifth.

We went right up the ladder from last to first. Just like Graves said he was going to do.

Thanks, I missed the option on Pace's deal.
