Los Angeles Rams general manager Les Snead made the trip to Austin for Texas’ pro day on Tuesday, likely to get a look at some of the Longhorns’ top prospects in this year’s class. Players such as Matthew Golden, Jahdae Barron and Quinn Ewers could all be options for the Rams, but Snead might’ve been doing some early scouting for the 2026 draft.
Snead was spotted chatting with Texas quarterback Arch Manning, who will take the reins from Ewers as the starter in 2025. Manning is the nephew of Peyton and Eli Manning, and he’s viewed as the top prospect in the 2026 draft class.
It was likely just a friendly, casual chat between Manning and Snead, but it doesn't hurt for a GM to get to know the kid a year in advance.
It is worth noting that Snead has ties to the Texas program. His son, Tate Haver, plays for Texas, which could explain why Snead was in Austin in the first place.
Sean McVay is also fairly close with Texas coach Steve Sarkisian so there are some dots connecting the Rams to the Longhorns.
As exciting as it would be for the Rams to land Manning, they probably won't be bad enough to be within striking distance of the No. 1 pick next year – assuming Manning A) declares for the draft and B) has a season that sustains his high draft projection.
