We are doing this secret Santa thing at work and the person I selected has 60s/70s rock as his favorite genre of music.

I am thinking of ending the gift barrage this month with a killer cd featuring that kind of music.

I know of the big names and if he's a fan of that era (he's 62 BTW) he probably has the greatest hits cds or the popular ones of some of those bands.

Are there some great cd mixes out there to buy? Or some good rock bands I should look into that may be lesser known?

Any and all help is appreciated.

60s-70s covers a whole lot of territory, from primetime British Invasion to San Francisco to MoTown to folk/electric folk to brainless bubblegum pop... some people loved all of it, some were highly partisan about one type or the other. Your guy is just a bit older than me, and not quite as old as my late brother, and BB King would not be my choice. Do you have any idea what kind of youth he was?

Ask Peter Fonda. He can sell this stuff in his leather jacket like hotcakes.

Louis, I can send you (email) the Eagles' new album that just came out.

Hypothetically speaking of course ;)

A few years back I bought my Dad a John Fogerty concert DVD. He absolutely loved it as he liked the music of CCR and The Eagles type music. He's in his early 60's and never really went to concerts in his day so he really enjoys popping that dvd in every once in a while.

Live concert DVD's are better gifts than cd's in my opinion. With the big-screens tv's these days...you get to experience the ambience of a live show in your living room. Turn it up...crack open a cold one and let her rip!

Anyways...just another idea for you.

Two great ideas. I'm driving to town this weekend and hopefully will have some luck.

32 , thanks for the offer but I'd rather not. I really do appreciate it.
