It could go both ways. If they had a winning team, SDS would have been full each game. You got to spend money to make money. Either way, glad they are a great organization now.

I remember when all the wags thought the Cardinals wouldn't draw much better in a new stadium since they were the "same old Cardinals". But, attendance actually proceeded winning to an extent basically nobody guessed. And, I was an optimist that the half-filled, or even-less than half, days were gone once there was a comfortable place to watch an NFL game.

For those of you who remember Larry Czonka, Jim Quick, and Mercury Morris back in the day, dare to dream of this trio of backs in Arizona as being at least their equal. DJ is a great starter, and CJ is the premiere back up in the league. Both are strong, smart, savvy, veterans who can turn any five yarder into 30 at any time. Neither is a security risk with ball handling. When Ellington gets his head into football, he can take the top off any defense in the league. He is a pre-eminent speed back capable of taking it to the house at any time. Steve Keim just keeps making the right moves to literally rock my world.

Can't wait to see CJ running strong with our new line opening some holes for him.

The Bidwills always very clearly stated that they needed a new updated stadium with the luxury boxes to compete with other owners in the NFL. They promised that if they ever got that they would spend the money necessary and be able to compete with the big boys. I think it's safe to say that he was right and lived up to his promise the stadium was built and look at them now???

When your average attendance is a third or less more than other teams you're not getting all revenues from parking and concessions etc. etc. etc. and don't have any luxury box revenues you're going to hurt... He's lived up to his end of the bargain and appears he was right all along.

It wasn't attendance at SDS - it was definitely the other revenue streams. I ran the numbers before and the average home game attendance was very close to 48,000 most seasons. Sure there were some games with smaller crowds, but there were some sellouts each year to bring the overall numbers up.

Heard on the radio yesterday Vai Sikahema tell a story about when he was on the Cards. He recalled a quote from Roy Green, "the cards are the only team to be mathematically eliminated before the season starts."

That speaks to a lousy FO and ownership more than revenue streams IMO. The stories of Bill's cheapness are only outdone by poor business and football decisions.

Yes the stadium has made a world of difference but without Michael we would still have Graves as our GM and in no way shape or form do I believe Bill would be this aggressive in FA.

You cant spend money you don't have. Thats called bankrupt... You cant just ignore this "you're not getting all revenues from parking and concessions etc. etc. etc. and don't have any luxury boxes"

The government does it all of the time.....and they are still in business. :D
