5:24 PT: The Denver Post reports the New England Patriots reportedly will now remove the franchise tag from free agent S Tebucky Jones, now that they have added S Rodney Harrison. Jones will become an unrestricted free agent.


I have thought this was a good season to be in the market for a safety..hopefully we will sign jackson.. if not - we need to look for another veteran..

Although I am not big on signing emmitt..it may help us if we go after someone like big daddy on an incentive laden contract.. having emmitt and a qb (blake) a safety (jackson) and a dend (holliday) would help us go after some of these vets. Do not break the bank - but one of these guys has to have something left in the tank.. bid daddy is 2 years younger than hugh douglas (obviously different type of player..just using an age reference).

Tebucky Jones is one of the worst coverage safeties you'll ever see. I'd stick with Lucas rather than pay him.

Great athlete, no instincts at all.

Hate to agree with my own off-spring but that guy is someone we need to stay away from. He's a liability from my persepctive. We need down lineman and a cover guy like Jackson.

Honestly though, you're right. At a low price, I'd take a flyer on Jones if we lose out on Jackson, although I suspect that our Plan B for losing Jackson is to bring back Lassiter.

Sammy Knight is a better player than both Jones & Lassiter. Dexter Jackson is a great athlete & I would'nt be upset at either (KNIGHT or JACKSON) being signed. You also can't argue that Justin Lucas has a knack for making big plays. I don't think he'll be a weak link if he's the starter either.

There is a reason that New England would sign another safety then release Jones from his franchise tag: he's not as good as what is out there. I would rather have Jackson who can cover. Team him w/Wilson and the safeties are set. We could use Wilson,til he learns to cover better, like Tampa used Lynch. All we need to do is sign Blake and Holliday along w/Jackson and the Free Agency period looks much better.
