I just pre-ordered this today, I was in beta testing and I have to admit despite being a WoW clone, I thought it was kind of neat roaming around the LOTR world. It's NOT based on the Jackson films but rather book based, yet still very familiar since the movies were close to the books.

Anyone else going to try this game out?

I have a friend that works for Turbine and got my husband and I in the closed Beta awhile ago. It is a fun game!

I've been looking for a "change of pace" from CoH/CoV & SWG...the buy in on this game is a great deal ($200 for lifetime access I believe), but I've talked myself out of it due to the WoW factor...

What?
With 9 million subscribers I think the WoW model will be soon run into the ground for every new format.

SWG totally reconfigured it's entire game-play style to fashion it after WoW years after it's initial release, basically burning everyone who had played the game up to that point.

It's not the game-play mechanics that turn me off to WoW, it's the content. I spent a lot of years playing D&D. It's just a little old to me I guess.

SWG was a great game before May 2005, I unlocked the day before the CU :p. I still have an account for cantina dancing, space and my chef shop.

LOTRO will be fun for a few months, but I am sure I will get bored of it fast.

WoW will be the model for now it's safe, but that model is starting to oversaturate itself as is the elves and orcs model, so you have to question how safe that model will be in the future. Next year all the pirate games come out, then Stargate and Star Trek. Should be intresting.
