Is the fact that if anything similar were to occur with Ellington, we are screwed...
We're thin in some other areas, but nowhere are we lacking quality depth more than at RB.
Ellington had nowhere to run yesterday. But it would've been nice to have the ability to roll out some type of alternative at the position. It's Ellington or bust. And as much as I love the guy, he can't last the entire season as our only option...
Grice is putrid... He missed several blitzers yesterday and that INT that Palmer threw was actually more Grice's fault as he ran a terrible route - clearly, Palmer thought he would be taking a line that would've had him cutting in front of the linebacker...
We desperately need some type of alternative.

Ellington had space to run. I don't know if his foot was bothering him or what. He was not making the most of his opportunities.

Hughes and Grice are disgraceful.

If the trade deadline was later I would've loved to have seen them make a play for Forte. Hell they may cut him after the season...

I always liked him - ON THE FIELD... However, perhaps his off the field issues are just too hefty to deal with?

Wasn't gonna make a point of that...I just like Ellington too much I guess. However, now that you mentioned... I was more than a little bummed by the number of times he went to the ground without being touched, or, just slightly touched... There were a few runs where he, at minimum, could've picked up 5-7 more yards and instead, he dropped to the ground...

I'm glad he is doing everything possible to avoid hits. As you mentioned, if he does get hurt, the Cardinals don't have a replacement.

I noticed the same thing. One time he just dove out of bounds on his own when it looked like he could have picked up several more yards or possibly even planted his foot and cut back inside like I have seen him do many times before.

We need a heavy duty stud Big RB for up the middle at least by next year.

What most uneducated fans on this team dont know is this.

The only two IRREPLACEABLE players for what we do are Ellington on offense and Calais on defense. Anything happens to those guys, and I am afraid next man up is just a phrase at that point.

dont know if its the foot -- dont know if the coached are telling him to get down --

but sometimes he goes down like he was shot by a sniper

i thought there were a few runs where he was an ankle tackle away from going for big yards

I noticed that when Ellington ran to his left today, he had trouble planting with his left foot and cutting off it. Seems like it can't take the strain of pushing off the left foot when he tries to cut upfield after gaining the corner.

I'm not pushing the panic button on Grice just yet. He's a rookie that has had, what, 4 weeks in the system? And at that, until Stepfan went down, was probably getting close to zero reps in practice?

I'm not proclaiming him a long term answer, but I also don't think Alex Brown or any street FA is going to be any kind of an improvement, and will probably experience the same issues in pass protection.
