Arians and Keim have both said where the Cards are going to look for improvement, the interior OL and speed at LB position. Iupati and Worilds come to mind even though I don't know if Worilds is much of an upgrade over Okafor but adding another pass rusher is never a bad thing.

I think we should start with an edge rusher and go from there. Edge rusher should be a priority. A more durable back should be another. According to this blogsite, Oakland is going to release McFadden and go after Murray, Julius Thomas, and Maclin. They also mentioned Schaub being released. I'd snap him up as a back up in a second. He's heads and shoulders better than Stanton.

I like him but he can't stay healthy.

From Rotoworld:

ESPN Falcons writer Vaughn McClure reports free agent edge rusher Brian Orakpo "would have been a top target" for Atlanta last offseason if he hadn't been franchise-tagged by the Redskins.
Orakpo is set to hit the market next month and will come at a much cheaper price after tearing his pec for the third time and managing just a half-sack across seven games.

I think it's a given we lose Cro. My dream would be to snatch Maxwell up from the Hags, but we just couldn't be that fortunate. NJ, I disagree about Schaub being heads and shoulders better that Drew. He's shown nothing lately to prove that.

Geez guys , the way I see it we need inside LB's in the worst way. Also to play the "bowles" type of defense we need Cro or a adequate replacement.

bowles defense was much better the year before without Cro. Powers is adequate in that system as long as we find some LBers that can play ball.

The defense was better the year before because we had Washington and Dansby. They added pressure up the middle and took pressure off the CB's. JMHO>

true, but hopefully the squad gets Washington back for 10-12 games like it did two years ago and significantly upgrades the LBer position, which I believe will be the main target in FA. Cro is too much of a luxury at this point and playing a dependent position. Focus on the middle of the D and the backfield will take care of itself, IMO.

I agree we need ILBs but frankly our D was very poor last year statistically and I don't see how we can possibly drop off that much this year. Losing Cro isn't an issue. Bowles got accolades for doing more with less, but our D wasn't very good.

Excuses don't matter, they just weren't that good statistically. The same QB excuses we made this year, inability sustaining drives, 3 and outs, real bad punting and special teams, will hold true this year, despite the loss of Bowles. If we shore up those issues he won't be missed.

I think Julius Thomas (if they can afford him)would be a good fit.

He seems done in Denver.
I agree that he looks to be done in Denver but is he a product of Peyton Manning? Name a TE that hasn't looked good with Manning throwing him the ball. I would pass on him, especially the way Arians uses TE's.

There was an article about him about how he doesn't love the game. His teammates basically said he's there just to collect a check. Don't want him on the Cards.

Thomas hasn't played with any other QBs. I'd argue that Thomas is a top 5 TE in the NFL right now. He's fast, athletic, big, tall and he can catch.

I think if Arians had someone with his level of ability, he would alter the offense so that the QB has a safety net in Thomas to throw the ball to.

I also think we are going to be aggressive in signing their own FA. Cro, Kelly, Williams, and others now they will have the money to do so.

Kelly is a budget DE, dont need to be very aggressive there. Cro can kick rocks.

Doubt we pursue Cro, and I can see an offer for Kelly but Williams will test the market and they will likely only bring him back on their own terms.

I think by aggressive they mean there will be another Veldheer type signing, then a bunch of the usual one year Kelly/Cromartie/Foote/Dansby/Abraham types.

I wonder how much Orakpo will want? Could we get him cheap because of

his injury history? Jason Worilds, Mason Foster and Mark Ingram are guys

I could see the Cards go after. Iupati or the Raiders lineman are at the top

of my wish list.
