I dont think that is true. He makes less than Haley is making this year (before performance bonuses), but that is because salaries go up every year.

The Cards gave him a $1 Million raise last year so he wouldn't go to Miami. I believe that put his salary above Whisenhunts

Wiz made 2.5. Haley made 1.75. He only got a 500k raise.

Haley is making 3 right now.

Off Season

Thanks Joe...very interesting stuff. Man, for a team that just went to the Super Bowl the flux surrounding the team is remarkable.

I would like to be smart enough to like or not like what ever coaches are available. Unfortunately I am not so who ever Whiz brings in or promotes is more than good enough for me as I think he is a very good head coach.

Like you say Mitch for a team that just went to the Superbowl there is a lot of changes taking place. Losing your OC and DC is big in itself. Losing a pro bowl receiver and a former pro bowl running back is sort of scary. Possible losing your best defensive player in Dockett adds to the scary part. Worst of all we do not even have our pro bowl QB under contract. We also do not have a feel for how much of that CAP money the owners are going to use or keep for themselves?

Things could go very wrong or very good. This is not like any other former Superbowl team I recall seeing going into the off season without even a high draft pick. Previous years we argued most about who we would draft with our number 3 or 4 overall picks.

Do we not have the most silent General Manager in Graves in the NFL? I read about other GM's comments all the time but unless you are a Cardinal fan you would never know who our GM is. Is this guy good or bad or is he even the real GM or GM in name only? After all these years I cannot answer that question. He acted like the GM when we got the award for winning the NFL Divison title. Does he have many comments in the Airizona Papers or ever hold a press conference or make himself available to the press?

James can effectively choose where he wants to go by refusing to renegotiate except with the team or teams of his choice. And if he's able to work out agreeable terms with a team, there's no reason for that team to trade anything to the Cardinals for his rights, since they can just wait for him to be released.
There's one catch, James is under contract to the Cardinals. No other team can even approach him yet; so how are the going to discuss terms?

Once the Cardinals do release him, any and all interested teams are able to make an offer. I am not saying that it will happen, but the only way to be a step ahead of the competition is to talk to the Cardinals prior to James being released.

I'm just skeptical that being "a step ahead of the competition" is worth even a 7th round draft pick to any team.

if you trade for James, you assume his contract

nobody is paying Edge $5mm next year, much less give up a draft pick for the right to do it

Edge's Cap Hit

Of the $7M bonus + $4.5M roster bonus from 2006 how much fall into next year. If we release him we save the $5M salary but is the $11.5M spread evenly across all 4 years?
