Isn't it remarkable what the simple inclusion of a decent QB can do for your team. I'm talking about the Niners, team we all considered possibly the worst in the league, even the Browns when immediate future is thrown in. They go from a team that couldn't win a game, to one who doesn't lose any of their next four, including beating this season other conference's champions. Is there really too high of a price to place on a true franchise QB? Maybe not, if you think you know for sure what you are getting.

Well, lets apply that thought to the Cardinals situation and future. If lucky, maybe Allen or Mayfield fall to the Cards at 13 or 15, or whenever they pick. Are either of those two worth gambling your 1st round pick on when you could conceivably get a really good CB, LB, OT, or WR at that spot? Usually I would say No. But I would be willing to take the gamble on either of those 2 Qbs, simply due to their possible upside? We have gambled on much less fairly recently.

But if we do or not, there seems to be many QBs who could be available to us this off season for probably less cost. Just think of the teams, who due to injury especially, are sitting with 2 proven starting Qbs on their roster now. Surely the Cards to have their choice of who they like the most for a reasonable cost.

My inclination is to do both, take a shot on Allen or Mayfield if there for us, and still go get any one of the #2 qbs on one of the many other teams. Help me now, fill in all those who we could inquire about this off season.

Chiefs - Alex Smith, smart, disciplined, healthy, and seems to love this year being allowed to air it out.

Vikings - Who knows what they are thinking? I would give any of their 3 qbs a shot for right price. Would prefer either Keenan or Bridgewater who both are young and still growing/learning.

Eagles - Foles may create some desire in other teams if he can keep the Eagles moving thru the playoffs.

What other QBs might be sitting on someone's bench next season?

What does everyone else think about acquiring one of the existing NFL QBs and/or, using or not using our 1st round pick on an available QB?

Um, Lamar Jackson?

I hope he’s on the radar before Josh Allen.

Keep Foles & Smith as far away from this team as possible.

Being from Wyoming, I follow the Cowboys a lot. I'm a Josh Allen fan, but feel he should have stayed in school for his Senior year.
He looked good in the first-half of the Idaho Potato Bowl. But, then regressed in the second-half. He has a cannon for an arm, but the Cards have had that before with minimal results.
Who knows what he'll be like in the Pros, but I would not use either a first or second rounder. We have other positions to fill: CB, OT, WR, and G.

I like Allen but he's not that accurate. Another year would have been a good idea I think.

Man, we can not keep delaying the opportunity to draft a QB.

Really? Another year of throwing to WRs who can't run a decent route, get separation, or catch the ball with consistency? And throw in the high risk of getting injured, maybe permanently? Yikes!

Mayfield has been a lot better than Jackson against stronger competition. I would take Allen over Jackson at this point. I just don't see Jackson making it as a starter. Not sure who to pick to tell you the truth. Maybe Rosen. Don't like Darnold & his weird delivery.

I see Darnold and Rosen being gone by the time we pick.

You got to factor the supporting casts as well. Baker supporting cast is A LOT better than Lamar’s that’s it funny. There’s not a single position group that would have Louisville over Oklahoma. None. The fact that Lamar has put up the stats he has is compressive.

Allen is garbage, dude. He has a bad supporting cast, but he also went against weaker competition & still has played pretty poorly pretty much the whole season. Can’t say the same for Lamar.

Good post Floyd, but let’s please please please hope the Cards will not wait to see who falls to them at 13 or 15. Determine the guy, then go get him.

I don't think he was ever discouraged from "airing it out" under Andy Reid...Or any other coach he played for....... He just got a huge fire lit under his ass when they drafted Mahomes.

I've seen three Wyoming games this year and I cannot see burning a first rounder on him. He reminds me of Blake Bortles. Physically talented, but something in terms of adjustment and reaction to a play going bad, I just don't see it in him.

If we stay in the same draft spot, I think Mayfield would be there. I am fine with drafting him I guess we will just have to see what the Cards think/

There are more opportunities than normal for a team to pick up a new QB who can start, IMHO. Draft or free agency. I just hope we don't insert an elf figurine into a pooch's anal canal.

Scout friend liked Josh Allen last year but has not watched him yet this year. Will soon. For me, I haven't seen enough of him. He could easily be an Aaron Rodgers or a Kyle Boller. He has that kind of arm. But, how he processes info and reads defenses is the key and that something we as fans really have little knowledge of.

A pro option I was thinking of yesterday was Landry Jones. He's had some success but is stuck behind Ben so we really don't know what his ceiling is. He could be Mike Glennon II.

A trade option I thought might be interesting is, Cards offer their #1, and maybe a little more, to Indy for Andrew Luck. Indy keeps their top 5 pick and are basically in a re-build mode. They could draft a Rosen/Darnold and add more talent with the Cards #1 and the Cards get a guy familiar with BA and, when healthy, and I think he will be, is a top end QB. It would make sense both ways.

I'd probably boycott the team if they made that Luck move. He's probably not going to play again. Maybe a third rounder, but even still...

Yep that's why he's the ex 49er QB, the entire reason he lost the job to CK is they kept seeing big plays on film where Smith would check it down instead of taking the shot downfield. He was a very efficient QB but they wanted the big plays he wasn't going for.

Clearly that move has ultimately backfired as CK's career fell apart.

I've never been a Smith fan but I'd certainly have some interest if he were at the right price, I just don't think he will be.

You won't find a bigger Luck fan than me but I agree we don't know if he'll ever play again.

It worked for the Saints with Drew Brees, but it appears like Luck's injury is much worse than Brees' was.

They signed him as a free agent - that's something I could probably accept. I can't handle trading away a top 15 pick for him.

I brought this up a while back, and I would make that deal in a heart beat. Luck will be back next slinging it.

Agree. I don't think he's done at all. Plus, I'm sure the Cards would have all the medicals in order prior to making such a deal.
