FORT WORTH, Texas — Jayda Curry’s final performance for Louisville basketball was one for the books.
The guard scored a career-high 41 points in her final game for Louisville as the seventh-seeded Cardinals fell to second-seeded TCU, 85-70, on Sunday in the second round of the NCAA Tournament.
After scoring 15 of the team’s first 17 points, Curry and the Cardinals went cold. They only scored nine points in the second quarter. And a 17-0 TCU run between the first and second quarters seemed to build an insurmountable lead as the Horned Frogs led, 47-26, at halftime.
Curry found her rhythm again as she helped to ignite the Cardinals in the second half. Louisville found a second wind and trimmed TCU’s 21-point lead in the third quarter to nine late in the fourth. Despite scoring 44 in the final two quarters, the Cardinals’ valiant second-half comeback bid came up short.
