Love the win and I hate to complain. But its decisions like this that will lose us games later. 3rd and 3 with 3+ minutes to go, the running game has gotten us down the field, I believe we were inside the 40. The goal at the point should be to score ANY points and make it a two score game again and run as much time off the clock as possible.

What do we do? Try a passing play and get sacked taking us out of field goal position. We should have run it up the gut, 1, 2 or 3 yards would have been fine...kick the field goal and have a little bit more comfort. I just dont understand decisions like this. :mulli:

WE WON! WOO HOO!

Thats a tough call. We are a pass first team so a pass makes some sense. But you cant take a sack there. You HAVE to throw a quick slant or something fast to pick up an easy 3 yards.

Or Run it.

The dude was all over Larry's back before the ball got there. Shoulda been a flag. Personally, I have no problem asking your superstars to ice the game.

Looking back, it was 5.26 in the 4th. We were at the NYG's 37, which puts the FG attempt at 54 yds assuming no gain. So, just looking at the numbers after the game (and not in the heat of the moment) - it was the right call.

Despite what I posted mere moments ago...

The 3rd down call wasn't the issue. It was the pass play on 1st and 10 with almost 4 minutes left and we just recovered the ball. RUN IT. Passing on first down there was silly.

The 3rd down play was fine...but that series should have started with a run, the clock rollling and NY either letting time tick or start burning timeouts. And the way we were running, it would have been 2nd and 5 or so.

BUT...we won! No nitpicking after a win...

I liked the fact that we played to win. Sure I don't always agree with his calls but if I was coaching the team we probably wouldn't be 4-2 either cause clearly he is doing something right.

Since this is a nitpick thread, the thing that annoyed me was Boldin being on the field when he was clearly unable to run. Heart is one thing but Doucet should have been out there on that 3rd down play. He would at least have the speed to get past the safety in one-on-one coverage.

WE BROKE THE CURSE AND WE BEAT THE GIANTS IN NEW YORK IN 2009.ENJOY IT!!!!!!!!!! No One is promised tomorrow. That makes 3 times in the last 20 visits and you just saw ONE!!!!!!!

We can't have two easy wins in a row after winning at Qwest field last week.We had to play the refs tonight too. That was'nt an easy win by no stretch of the imagination.Branch put the hurt on Eli and he was'nt the same the rest of the game.He felt all 360lbs of him.LMAO:D

Coach Davis will be the next person some team tries to steal from us and make a new head coach at this rate.Just watch....:)

The giants were gonna be SO upset after getting beat last week they were gonna KILL US in there own house this week.Thats what they said in the papers all week.I think they should shut up and play.Like the CARDINALS ARE DOING!:D

Doucet was inactive.

But, I agree... it should have been Breaston or Fitz for a deep route. Q was clearly limping.

Okay but if Boldin isn't on that play who gets the huge gain that puts us in FG range before the end of the half.

Boldin deserves a lot of praise for doing what 99% of us probably couldn't and that is run up and down the field while injured all game AND still make an impact at even 25% of his ability.

I agree but why Kurt threw to him and not another WR is hard to fathom. I can only assume Kurt forgot about the ankle or he would have known there was no way Anquan could get deep.

I thought we should have played Urban more but Anquan is such a tough player you hate to take him out.

Come on admit it how many of you wanted to jump through the TV and strangle somebody when the Cards threw the ball on the first play of the drive from their own 42 with 3:52 left in the game? And then threw it on 2nd and 3rd down and went 3 and out and only ran one minute off the clock?!?!!?

I almost had a stroke.

Clank clank clank takes 20 seconds off the clock.

3 runs, 4 yards, and a cloud of dust takes 2 minutes off the clock...

I'm far past thoughts of violence but I was shaking my head.

My wife kept asking me why I wasn't more excited, and I couldn't really answer other than we're making some stupid decisions and getting away with it which on the one hand is great and on the other hand is tiresome.

All and all glad for the win but how come even I know you have to run the ball there?

Didn't I just mention this a couple weeks ago?

Same dang thing all over again, amazing really, there are situation that call for simply running the ball, so run the ball, the yardage isn't even really the issue it's clock management.

How come average people know this and our coaching staff seems oblivious to this?

Is it too much to ask for football 101 to be KNOWN by our own coaches?

Glad for the win but why? Why do we lose our minds like that?

WHY?

Yes. Hell, I would have been fine with run pass pass there. But pass pass pass with 3:52? Giving them the ball back with 3 minutes left and all their timeouts? That was just..odd.

The defense won the game
but I did not like 3 plays that could have costed us the game

1) Giants 3rd & 11 and we committed two offsides to move Giants to 3rd & 1

2) Giants again 3rd & 11 and couldn't get a 1st down but a 15 yards penalty against Dansby

3) 3rd & 14 for the Giants near on their 4 - and Eli managed a long pass for 26 yards

We need some consistency of 3rd & long defense. Either we commit penalties or we sleep sometimes

The two offsides penalties were stupid - but I kinda sorta understand them - the D was going to go after Eli hard, and they all wanted that 1st step.

The call against Dansby was BS. Refs being protectionist. We should just put a pair of flags on them so they don't get tackled.

3 - agree, drove me nuts!
