agreed. As long as Wilson is playing on that cheap rookie contract they will be a force in the west. Still have all of the major parts of their starting defense intact. Best D in the league.
Wilson is the best game manager I've ever seen, but he's not a great QB. He's in the "hall of pretty good" category.
A major part of their defense last year was all the defensive line depth that's gone now. Sure they still have Avril, Bennett, and Mebane on their d line, but they've lost depth that really pushed them over the top.
Their now down to their #4 corner from last year starting (Maxwell).
And I do think that ultimately Harvin will come back and be pretty good, but Tate was huge from them last year, and IMO is a better receiver on the outside than Harvin who has never been all that good in that role.
Trust me, I listen to their talk radio all the time and they're freaking out a bit up here. They've hemorrhaged talent over the past few days. They have built their great team on longshots (Wilson, Sherman) and reclamation projects (Browner, Lynch). That kind of success doesn't work in the long run, at least not historically (outside of the Raiders from the 70s).
