Tate, McDonald, probably Browner, probably Thurmond, Giacomini.

Plus most of their free agent targets are signing elsewhere (Jason Hatcher).

My bold prediction right now (and could change later based on draft/later free agency):

Seahawks finish 3rd in the NFC West.

browner barely played last year i think, i dont see these losses as much destruction at all. they draft well and are still LOADED with talent.

agreed. As long as Wilson is playing on that cheap rookie contract they will be a force in the west. Still have all of the major parts of their starting defense intact. Best D in the league.

Its within the margin of football randomness

Sea, SF are a notch above right now -- but the notch is small

all six games between the three teams will come down to who is healthier and how the ball bounces

To me, this is more fiction than reality.

Seahawks still have a very strong core of players who buy into Carrol's system. They didn't lose anyone that's irreplaceable. Once they start taking significant hits to their secondary is when you'll see them come back to earth. That will happen when the Wilson and Sherman contracts will need to be addressed, and early indications are that both will command between $40-$60mil guaranteed each.

You win the Super Bowl and you will lose some players but they have proven that they are more than adequate finding players to build a team. The have their core players, they will be a good team this season. Now the Raiders, they do musical chairs every year and do so without any core players... they are fun lol

Agreed. Meanwhile, we lost the leader of our D, HB likely isn't healthy next season and our stud pass rusher is about to turn 36 (?)...pretty bold claim to make that we've passed them already.

I'm stoked with the moves we've made so far and understand having to let Dansby walk but the idea that the Hawks are getting destroyed right now seems like wishful thinking to me.

Just wait till they have to resign Russell Wilson beyond his rookie contract. That's when we'll start seeing the destruction of the team, same goes for the Niners.

I'm actually surprised at how few players and personnel Seattle has shed after winning the SB. I would have expected more. Especially from the front office and coaching staff--you'd figure they'd be picked apart but they weren't. I think this thread is overstating the case.

Losing those guys isn't gonna ruin them. They still have what's considered the best D in the NFL & a cheap QB that won't ruin their cap. IMO They have another 2 years before the cap affects their on the field product...so they ain't going anywhere yet

1) Taite is a better than average WR who was stuck in a run first O, I'm sure they are looking at the Oregon St kid hard in the draft.

2) Browner was replaced already

3) Small CBs like Thurmond are a dime a dozen

4) Giacominni IMO is gonna be missed the most

I think they have spent their money very well, with an eye to the future. Tate was overrated, they are going to be able to keep Baldwin who I think is much more talented. Michael Bennett came back for a very reasonable contract. The players that are leaving are getting overpaid, can't blame the Seahawks for not matching.

The true test will be next year when Sherman, Thomas, Avril, Mebane, and Baldwin are free agents. Also Russell Wilson will probably get a huge deal that year. Wilson hasn't made anything in salary being a third round pick (compared to other franchise QBs).

Wilson is the best game manager I've ever seen, but he's not a great QB. He's in the "hall of pretty good" category.

A major part of their defense last year was all the defensive line depth that's gone now. Sure they still have Avril, Bennett, and Mebane on their d line, but they've lost depth that really pushed them over the top.

Their now down to their #4 corner from last year starting (Maxwell).

And I do think that ultimately Harvin will come back and be pretty good, but Tate was huge from them last year, and IMO is a better receiver on the outside than Harvin who has never been all that good in that role.

Trust me, I listen to their talk radio all the time and they're freaking out a bit up here. They've hemorrhaged talent over the past few days. They have built their great team on longshots (Wilson, Sherman) and reclamation projects (Browner, Lynch). That kind of success doesn't work in the long run, at least not historically (outside of the Raiders from the 70s).

I dunno about the Seahawks falling apart--none of these guys seemed that important. But I'm surprised that more isn't being considered about the NFC South champs who seem to be coming apart at the seams. They're losing a ton of important players.

The Saints seem to be close to the moment of losing all kinds of things... they could even lose the 'S' in Saints and you know what that will make them again lol

The Seahawks are going to struggle. Last year the Ravens didn't make the playoffs.
