Charley Hull went viral last summer for her smoking habit on the LPGA. On Monday, Hull made a hefty bet with English pro Ryan Evans during a round at Sunningdale Golf Club that she'd stop smoking.
Hull posted a video of the bet on her Instagram story, with the caption, "Deal is a deal, let's see if I'm a woman of my word."
"Today, I've made the decision that I'm going to stop smoking," Hull said at the top of the video as she handed her pack of cigarettes over to the Clutch Pro Tour player.
"If I pick up a cigarette in the next two months," said Hull, "I'll give you 10 grand, and I'm shaking on that. Deal."
Hull, who said she couldn't win any money on the bet, then asked him to chuck the cigarettes in the trash. Evans posted a photo of Hull signing the cigarette box and joked he was going to put it up on eBay tonight.
Hull said at the U.S. Women's Open last year, where she went viral for signing autographs with a cigarette in her mouth, she actually hated smoking.
“Yeah, listen, my dad smokes 40 a day since he was 12 years old and now he's 75, and my nephew smokes who is like 25," said Hull. 'My whole family smokes, so it's not something that I've noticed being odd. I hate smoking. I used to curse at my dad when I was younger for smoking, but I think it's to do a little bit when I'm stressed."
Currently No. 10 in the Rolex Rankings, Hull recently competed in the famed Sunningdale Foursomes event alongside close friend and Solheim Cup teammate Georgia Hall. The pair were knocked out in the Round of 16.
