Despite 1-0 start to the series on Friday night, LSU baseball is leaving Austin with a series loss. Texas took game three to claim the series with a 6-2 win.

Chase Shores got the start on the mound for LSU but the Texas lineup picked up right where they left off. The Longhorns scored 11 runs against LSU on Saturday and scored nearly half of that against Shores in the first four innings. During that same span, LSU was able to manage three hits but zero runs.

Texas held a 5-0 lead as Shores was pulled from the game for Casan Evans. Shores day finished after four full innings of work where he gave up five runs on seven hits three strikeouts, and two walks. In the top of the sixth inning, LSU was finally able to get on the board as Jake Brown hit an RBI single and then a run scored as Brown was thrown out attempting to steal to cut the lead to 5-2.

In the bottom of the sixth inning, Texas scored another run on an RBI triple to extend their lead to 6-2. Cooper Williams entered to pitch for LSU with two outs in the bottom of the eighth inning.

Evans's day was finished after 3.2 innings, during which he gave up one run on four hits, five strikeouts, and zero walks. He was responsible for the runners on second and third when Williams entered the game as well, but Williams did not allow either of them to score.

With the loss, LSU drops to 22-3 on the season and 4-2 in conference play. The Tigers will be back in action on Tuesday as the Tigers take on Louisiana Lafayette at 6:30 PM.
