One of LSU football's top-ranked transfer additions finally arrived in Baton Rouge. Josh Thompson, the former Northwestern offensive lineman, joined the Tigers after finishing his academic quarter at Northwestern. Zack Nagy of LSU Tigers Sports Illustrated reported the news.

According to On3's Transfer Portal Industry Rankings, Thompson was the No. 2 ranked interior offensive line transfer of the class. He was the No. 23 overall transfer, regardless of position.

LSU is losing four starters on the offensive line and expects Thompson to make an immediate impact as one of the few veteran players on this unit. Thompson has experience playing guard and tackle. In an ideal world, Thompson plays guard for LSU while two of the Tigers' talented youngsters emerge at the tackle spots. However, Thompson will play tackle if needed.

Thompson is talented and was a blue-chip recruit coming out of high school, per On3. It's rare to find quality offensive linemen in the portal with Thompson's blend of experience and talent.

In 402 pass block snaps in 2024, Thompson didn't surrender a single sack.
