We're clearly a better club than they are this year and I think we've proved drastically since that game. I think the bright lights of the big stage got to us that week.

If we'd pulled out a win there, we would legitimately be in the national championship talk with a win over Stanford in the pac12 championship and a little help from Michigan state

I agree that the loss stings. I noticed that in both of our losses, the OL/DL was pushed around pretty good in the first half. Against both Stanford and ND we were able to regroup at half time and play well in the second half. This gives our team something positive to focus on this week in practice.

I think this game will be very close to an even spread. Even though Stanford has more talent, they have to come to Tempe, where we have not lost in over a year. Should be a great game. Most exciting in the Valley since Cards/Warner Super Bowl run.

What about the gift you got when you played Wisconsin? Everyone besides ASU fans feel you should one more loss than you do..

Fail. I asked my wife, a Wildcat fan, and she doesn't feel we should have one more loss. BTW, you have now reached troll status with your Wisconsin comments. The good news for you, one more comment on the subject and you get your own public statue. The bad news, it will look just like you.;)

When all else fails go to the troll comments..

Look.. I merely was stating instead of if you won the ND game, there is another side it could flop.. You should have lost the Wisconsin game. And should have lost. Pretty basic..

Should have lost is a bit strong. You're focusing on just one call and we had just been screwed not much before that questionable call. Also, it was merely questionable - not wrong. Wisconsin blew it, their coach blew it and we benefitted. On top of all that, it wasn't they win/we lose it was just to give them a chance to win and their field goal kicker was notoriously bad. And the troll comment is pretty justified if you look at your history on this point. There was nothing wrong with your comment here but it's not unreasonable to lump this in with all the other times you've commented on this subject.

Seriously, if I had done the same thing you did but on the Wildcat board I'm pretty sure I would have been banned after the 3rd or 4th time. It was smack talk and it belonged elsewhere.

I was a little slow in editing my post but I'm not at all out of line. I come to this board to talk about my favorite team with fellow fans. If I wanted to put up with trash talk, I'd post elsewhere. Maybe I'm mistaken, perhaps the point of us each having our own forum is so that fans from the other can pop in and talk smack and if so, I apologize for wanting you to be held to a certain standard.

You mean the Wisconsin eff up that was set up by a long run where the Wisconsin player stepped out of bounds long before theyhad a chance to down it?

That was no gift. If anything it was a gift given to Wisconsin to even have an opportunity to screw it up at the end.

I'll give you 58 reasons why you shouldn't be popping off today.

Oh crap, I gotta go, ASU just scored again.

Quit being a troll Brian. There is a thread for this convo already. You clearly came in here to start trouble.. The ASU forum is no place for anything besides warm fuzzy thoughts about overrating its teams.. You got that?

Says the guy who derailed the thread about the ND game into talk about the Wisconsin win.

Gee, as always, you're an amazing idiot. Just far and away the worst poster I've seen on any board I regularly visit. You combine a tremendous ignorance with a tremendous brashness, its a stunning 1-2 punch of annoying.

Was this the biggest route in Territorial Cup history? Had to be close.

I'm flattered. Really, I am. But you've got to control your emotions towards me.. At some point I'm gonna take your compliments as crazy talk stalking if you don't simmer down.. Geesh..

There were some really whacky scores back in the day when ASU was a teachers college and UA would stomp them.

I heard Graham say (and Im not sure if this is correct or now) that this was the most points ever scored by an offense in a Territorial Cup game. I'm not sure if he meant an ASU offense, or any offense.

Either way, this game is rarely a blow out, and it was last night and it was glorious.

I actually ran into Dr. Crow on Friday and told him "Final score is going to be 56-14, just like in 1996" and he got all fired up. I didn't realize my joking statement would turn out to be fairly close!

I will continue to say as I always have. ASU means way more to UA than UA means to ASU. ASU is focused on regional and national accomplishments. Tucson is more focused on beating ASU. A friend in Tucson claims they are so bitter because James Harden has become a bigger star than any UA player!

Yeah, I'd say a blowout is 3 touchdowns, and ASU actually goes ahead in that differential 15 times to 14 with this win (as well has having 9 out of that last 10).

This is just for fun, though: I more have my eye on the actual win-loss, and ASU is going to have to take 2 out of 3 for a long while or go on a long streak or two in order to catch up. But it would be nice to have the outright lead someday even despite the padding from the early years.

Arizona leads the series 47–39-1, which includes a 20–2 start for Arizona from 1899 to 1948 when Arizona State was Tempe Normal School, Arizona State Teacher's College, and into its 3rd year as Arizona State College (1945-1948). Arizona State did not come under the control and patronage of the state's Board of Regents until 1945 and the teams did not play each other every year until 1946. Since that time, Arizona State leads the series 37-30-1.

Similarly, since Arizona State became a university in 1958, Arizona State leads the series 31–24-1. Since both teams moved from the Western Athletic Conference to the Pacific-12 Conference, Arizona leads the series 19-16-1. #13 Arizona State won the latest match-up, defeating the Wildcats 58–21 on November 30, 2013 in Tempe.

Interesting stats.

By any reasonable measure of the schools being on equal footing, ASU leads the series. I hope to eventually overtake the overhaul series though so UA fans finally shut up about it.

You'd think they'd not take much prize in a record mostly built on the back of routinely defeating a primarily female teachers college, but...they're pathetic, its in their bones. After all this is a school who proudly got their nickname after being shut out by Occidental College. Its a school who adopted its colors because it got a discount on uniforms.

Well if we're going to pick and choose when we will and will not accept results can we just look at the Pacific 10/12 Era? Oh yeah, but that doesn't suit your narrative.

Congrats on the win by the way and being the definition of a sore winner but that's about par for the course. So is the uniform smack and turn of the century jokes that I expect from a grade schooler. But I will admit it's pretty smart getting your shots in while you can after all you are losing what...15 starters this year? Have fun with that going forward.

Good point on the 15 starter deal. Yikes.

Do you still think that the ASU football program is at the same level of mediocrity as U of A as you commented earlier in the year?

If you only think of things through the small prism of one year then of course ASU is a significantly better program. Historically speaking ASU is slightly ahead of Arizona. But then again with what each team has coming back it's somewhat likely UofA probably has a better team than ASU as soon as next year. Who knows after that.

Everything reverts to mean. So you either choose to get your shots in while you can or be a class winner. I've done my share of both obviously.
