Congrats on the win by the way and being the definition of a sore winner but that's about par for the course.
Um... you're on the ASU half of the board. That's your choice. We'd all be perfectly content to talk about our upcoming Pac-12 Championship game. But no, you guys showed up after a 37 point demolition so now we're rehashing rivalry absurdities.

Certainly wasn't me. However the title of the entire thread is an absurdity. I suppose ASU could've won the ND game but also could've lost a few other games on their ledger. You are who you are.

Computer Polls
Jeff Sagarin: 3 (Via USA Today. ESPN claims he ranked ASU 9th)
Anderson and Hester: 6
Richard Billingsley:11
Colley Matrix: 5
Kenneth Massey: 6
Dr. Peter Wolfe: 6

Toss out high and low. Average Computer Ranking is 6.

Harris Poll: 13

Coaches Poll: 13

Final Regular Season Ranking: 11

Human polling is a joke. Gotta think the ND loss is responsible for most the skewing.

I think it is cool when the U of A people chime in here on the ASU board. Especially with decent people like Mao and Gee expressing congratulations of sorts. Its usually pretty dead around here, so the more the merrier as far as I am concerned.

That the ND loss stings right now? Yeah the ND loss stings right now. You rarely win all the close ones, but of course people are going to lament what could have been.

We are 9th in the Sagarin Ratings in the only category that matters. Pure_Elo. Pure_Elo is used in the BCS rankings. We are 3rd in his overall rating but in BCS terms, that is pointless. So to ESPN, we are rated 9th in the Sagarin ratings.

The only thing that would have changed if ASU had beat Notre Dame is their ranking and unless you are 1 or 2, it doesn't mean all that much. ASU would still be hosting Stanford for a chance at a Pac 12 championship and a Rose Bowl. None of that was affected by the Notre Dame loss.

Let's say, hypothetically, ASU had beat ND and was a Top 6 1-loss team today. On Saturday, the lose a squeaker at home.

Would they be able to still make a major bowl as an at-large if the only blemishes on their record were 2 losses to Stanford?

Unless that is somehow possible, I completely agree with you. Making a major bowl would do wonders for recruiting, even it they weren't playing for a national championship.

There really isn't any way they would have been picked for an at large berth in a BCS bowl. The Fiesta Bowl is locked into the Big 12 champ and the last at large bid and they will probably have to take Northern Illinois who gets an automatic berth. I don't see ASU being an attractive participant to either the Sugar or the Orange Bowls either. ASU isn't a traditional power and aren't known for traveling all that well.

Well if we're going to pick and choose when we will and will not accept results can we just look at the Pacific 10/12 Era? Oh yeah, but that doesn't suit your narrative.

Actually its irrelevant to "my narrative." How does joining the Pac 10 have anything to do with the date when the schools became relative peers? Going by when ASC became ASU or when ASC went under the Board of Regents makes a lot more sense, and anyone with an education from a real institution would know that.

I'm talking about since the schools have been on equal footing as Universities. Picking 1978 is completely arbitrary and you know it. UofA fans just like to bring that up because it ties in nicely with their "streak" and doesn't include the years of Frank Kush beat downs UofA received.

So if you want to pick random, meaningless dates, how about since the P-12 started? How about since Graham and Rich Rod arrived on campus?

Look, you've chosen to support a University that tried to deny educational options in our state. You decided to support a University that for decades tried to squash a Medical school happening in a growing metropolis, causing unknown amounts of financial as well as physical pain to sick people.

Obviously, if you support the UofA and have any rudimentary knowledge of the history of Arizona you're either A. evil, or B. willfully ignorant. So I don't expect sound reasoning, judgement or anything else out of people that support that piece of garbage institution.

Haha. The University of Arizona: Killing Sick People and Preventing People from Reading Whilst Sucking at Football.

Time to take off the tin foil hat dude and come back to the real world.

One thing I do respect U of A for is their performance against ASU in the 80s when ASU was clearly the better program. The all-time record "should" be closer than it is, but as much as I'd like to blame Mike Schuh etc. the fact is that those were big games for both teams and the Wildcats found ways to win (or tie).

With that aside, ASU is trending ahead in victories, and even though that rate still means they won't take the outright lead until the 2030s, I'd like to see it.
