I don't care if there are a ton of super hero movies, or if there are a ton of reboots of older movies. As long as they are good and entertaining, bring them on. With Mad Max, I watched the older ones and they were good, especially the thunder dome one and I am glad to see them reboot this with todays tech. I also can't wait to see a reboot/squeal to Ghostbusters. Bring them all on, as long as they are entertaining, I'm all for it!

I get your point here. This makes the most sense out of everything I've read in favor of it. I, as someone who has watched and loves the originals, certainly have a different opinion than someone who hasn't. Fair enough.

Hey, I'm human--so sue me :D
See, I love the ghost busters and have zero interest in the reboot. Similar situation. I have no interest in the new total recall either or the new evil dead remake.

Then I showed the og evil dead to someone who just saw the new one and they disliked the og so much they didn't even try army of darkness (the best one IMO) because of seeing the new one first.

It's all relative.

Some things we just close the door on for no reason.

And for me, it's mostly reboots and remakes I don't get into. There are extremely few reboots and remakes I'll support or like. I gave the new Evil Dead a shot because Raimi said it was the horror movie he wanted to make in the first place. It ended up sucking balls, but hey, at least I gave it a shot, because he had a good reason for doing it.

Sequels are where I really end up being all over the place. That, and franchises like Star Wars and the James Bond movies, which are quite different.

99% with 177 reviews counted. Only 2 rotten.

That is insane! And probably makes it the best reviewed movie of the year. Period!

Ah, I love google:

Sex & Nudity
Scantily clad women are seen, though there is no explicit nudity. A pregnant woman's bare stomach is shown.

Sweet! Taking my daughter to see this with me.

Just got back. Pretty awesome - full of action.
About the most "PG" rated-R movie I have ever seen. Sure, the idea of a post-apocalyptic world is bleak, and maybe I was taken in by the spectacle of action, but I don't recall a single swear word, there was no nudity [some from afar, but nothing is shown], and no sex. Not sure it warranted anything more than PG-13. But sometimes the ratings are requested for a reason. Don't let that steer you away if you are wanting "hardcore". I think it delivers.

I have one question, in the Mad Max timeline, is this a reboot where we find out how Mad Max becomes Mad Max or is this a story that Mad Max is in and references past events (like Thunderdome)?

Does my question make sense?

The first Mad Max was about how he became Mad Max. This is a sequel.

I don't know about you fellas,....but I really do not have a burning urge to get right out there and see this one...gonna wait for PPV or DVD....
keep seeing statements like,..."Brilliant filmmaking"....but from what I have seen it is just another typical "road Warrior" type flick....except with Charlize Theron

Loved it! The opening sequence was awesome and felt like you were watching Mad Max! I have not seen a movie twice in the theater in 20 years and I will be for this one.

Wow, just got back from seeing it in 3D. That movie was crazy, nearly every minute was the most intense car chase you've ever seen. The filming/directing/editing was amazing.

This is definitely one you want to see in theaters, it's hard to describe what a rush it is.

Agree with this completely. I think if anyone wants to see this they really need to go see it in theaters, 2-D or 3-D, either way it's awesome and being on the big screen with the surround sound is a huge plus. I think this will be like Pacific Rim in that those who waited for DVD or PPV will be disappointed they didn't get to see it on a large screen. I have surround sound and a 61'' Hi-Def TV but that didn't fully alleviate the disappointment of missing that movie in the theater. I'm bummed that Mad Max isn't in IMAX.

I don't know the answer, but there are more on the way:

Miller and McCarthy found during the writing process for Fury Road that they had enough story material for two additional scripts. One of these, entitled Mad Max: Furiosa, has already been completed, and Miller hopes to film it after the release of Fury Road.[71] In March 2015, during an interview with Esquire magazine, Hardy revealed that he was attached to star in four more Mad Max films following Fury Road.[72] In May 2015, Miller told Wired magazine, "Should [Mad Max: Fury Road] be successful, I’ve got two other stories to tell.

Took my sons to see this yesterday, it was highly entertaining with a few unexpected twists and turns, and an epic ending. Mostly during the first section, there were several things that this old guy found a bit too cringeworthy for his tastes.

I am not sure whether to applaud the writer's creativity in coming up with a lot of detailed nuances of life in the post apocolypse, or to tell him, "man, you are one sick pup!" But I am sure most people will love the twisted and warped stuff. Before too long, it settled into the prototypical Mad Maxish stuff where I could "relax" a bit more. It was a pretty wild ride.

I am bit surprised you are waiting until Sunday, but I am sure it will be great going with a good group.

wanted to go today, but couldn't get schedules to work. i'm chomping at the freaking bit to say the least... which is really weird because I was really only a HUGE fan of only one of the original trilogy. I just think it looks freaking awesome.

pure mayhem. Simple effective story-line... that had NOTHING to do with the usual "themes" of oil, water, etc... for your run of the mill post-apoc-flick.

I think the hyberpole of the movie is a bit overblown, but it was beyond entertaining. an absolute assault on every one of my senses.

And it really should have been called Furiosa: Fury Road. Charlize OWNED this movie.

Brilliant film! It's over the top, and unapologetic...if action is your thing, it's a must see!
