Well with all of the Skattebo talk lately and the amazing ride that he provided many of us who followed ASUs best season in years, I had to do a Mock Draft where the Cardinals could land this local hero. In this Mock I have Monti moving down twice to acquire additional picks. Here are the two trades that I propose:

Trade #1: Houston trades with the Cardinals for the #16 overall pick. The Cardinals trade (#16, and #155) for the Houston (#25, #79, #89).

Trade #2: Then in the 3rd round the Packers move up to the #79 pick that the Cardinals acquired from Houston. The Cardinals trade (#79 and #225) for the Packers (#87 and #124).

So the Cardinals end up with the following 7 picks in the 2025 NFL draft:

#25 (Houston)
#47
#78
#87 (GB)
#89 (Houston)
#124 (GB)
#152

#25 (from Houston) - Walter Nolen - DT - Miss
6'4" 296 lbs

The Cardinals add this quick twitch interior pass rusher to an already improved defensive front. Finally Rallis will have a full set of toys to play with! The new quality depth along the DL now allows the Cardinals to keep their DL fresh for the entire game.

#47 - Donovan Jackson - G - OSU
6'4" 315 lbs

With the Cardinals bringing in OL Coach Justin Frye from OSU, it makes sense that they might tap into that Buckeye talent pool for a third year in a row. Frye's familiarity with Jackson makes this pick a no brainer. Jackson's athleticism scores were off the charts at the combine. He will provide the Cardinals with a guard who can pull and move to make the Blocks that the Cardinals love to run.

#78 - Princely Umanmielen - Edge - Miss
6'1" 249 lbs

The Cardinals go back to Mississippi and grab Umanmielen on the Edge. The Cardinals continue to improve the defensive front and give Rallis some actual weapons to work with. Monti uses the depth of this draft to grab a strong Edge prospect in the middle of round 3.

#87 (from Green Bay) - Cam Skattebo - RB - ASU
5'9" 219 lbs

The Local Hero stays home to play for the Cardinals. If the Cardinals were looking for additional buzz to enter the 2025 season with they just hit a home run. The Valley will be a buzz with Skattebo jersey's flying off the shelves. But it is much more than buzz, Skattebo is a beast in the running game. His low center of gravity makes it very difficult to get him down on the ground. The Cardinals will be in good hands when Conner eventually moves on with Benson and Skattebo waiting in the wings.

#89 (from Houston) - Jalen Royals - WR - Utah St
6'0" 205 lbs

The Cardinals select Royals who is a deceptively fast WR with solid size. Royals was a pass catching machine at Utah St. He is a major threat with the ball in his hands and is difficult to tackle. He will push for the #3 WR spot fairly early in his career.

#124 (From Green Bay) - Jeffrey Bassa - ILB - Oregon
6'1" 232 lbs

The Cardinals can't have enough strong leaders and Bassa exudes leadership. He is a vocal general on the field directing his troops. The Cardinals add this savvy LB to come in and compete at ILB.

Pick #152 : Miles Frazier - OG - LSU
The Cardinals add another OL to improve depth. Frazer has played every position on the OL except center so he has versatility. However he projects best to Guard in the NFL.

Good job...that's a draft I could get excited about. Love the extra picks and that we get a high level player for the IDL and another high level player for the IOL.

People will laugh at me for this, but just based on recent draft history, I generally lean to avoiding players from Ole Miss. Lots of bad and disappointment comes from that school. Bobby Massie is probably the 6th best player drafted from Ole Miss since 2010. 17 players were drafted in the top 100 picks during that same span.

I get it. I was debating the Nolen pick with Robert Nkemdiche on the back of my mind.

Feel like we could get a better ILB than Bassa where Skat was drafted at. Only two picks I don’t like.
