You just answered your own question.

I don't know how this is a revelation to you. We literally just watched the Jets construct a super bowl level roster that included a wide range of top talent that completely and utterly sucked balls because Aaron Rodgers was cooked.

If you can't understand the concept that it doesn't how good the car is if the driver is crap I don't know what else to tell you.
So 100% of the blame on Rodgers too...now Kyler is crap?

Beggars can't be choosers. Monti can sit on his high horse an be worried about 5 mil whilst the team remains a sub 500 squad and he is forced to fire his coaches. Your quibbling over 5-8 mil when the EDGE group is lacking actual NFL level players is silly in a year that will require improvement and is piloted by a "mid QB". Look at Monti's FA class last year along the DL. He added mid players to mid contracts who didn't produce much during the time they were actually healthy.

It's not about the money. If I thought Sweat was worth $18m I'd say pay him $18m.

The reason I'd rather have Koonce is because I think Koonce can give us exactly what Sweat offers for the same money because he's coming off an injury and he's not got the recency bias and Super bowl ring that Sweat has.

Yes. Rodgers drained the life from that team and by mid season they knew what the score was and phoned it in. Rodgers sucked so the team sucked.

The QB effects everything.
You didn't answer my question about Kyler - is he crap?

My point is if Sweat is worth 14, the Cardinals having to pay him 18 should not be an issue.

Going after pretty unproven guy coming off missing his entire 4th season and paying him decent money, but not break the bank dollars, to be our answer at Edge, seems like such a penny-wise/pound foolish Cardinals move.

There's a way of thinking about it from inside the building that Beej, Darius Robinson, and Zaven are all NFL-caliber edge players, and adding a dice-roll plus a first- or second-day draft pick will get you where you need to go.

I don't expect Monti to be looking for "our answer" at any position in free agency. I think he's looking for options and flexibility.

Yeah… I clearly disagree with that line of thinking.

I expect Monti to add a Justin Jones / Bilal Nichols combo of EDGE guys in FA and calling it good until the draft.

No doubt.

I agree and that makes sense especially since Monti believes in building through the draft. Plus IMO the list of free agents is nothing special in the positions that the Cards have their most needs. There is no "must have" player to sign.

This is not a new concept. Players on bigger franchises and players on winning franchises get more attention and are considered better players because of it. We see it every year in things like Pro Bowl voting. The players with the most eyes on them have a far higher chance of being picked vs those that actually had a great season.

If Paris Johnson was on the Rams, Lions, Eagles, Ravens etc last year and played exactly the same way I guarantee he's being talked about much more and in a much different way.
There's some merit to that, for sure but I just don't think it's that simple. I think most of us are smart enough to look at a player and judge them in light of what the team is doing so that's where I think you have a point. But at the end of the day, PFF aside i think it's foolish to say that we are still not at a talent deficit. I personally liked the way PJJ played this year. Room for improvement, but he is certainly not a concern for me heading into this season.

QB aside it's 3 main areas of need at Edge, iDL and LB.

I'm not too concerned about OL at the moment because I expect some players to re-sign and I need to hear more about Williams injury, but RT may be added to that list. I'm happy with the talent we have or have developing in other areas such as safety, CB, WR etc

Look at the 2021 team that won 11 games, or the 2014 and 2015 rosters. They weren't stacked with big names, but we are missing a couple top tier talents like Campbell and P2.

What we mainly miss though is a QB that is as good as Carson Palmer was.

This I CAN clap to.

Listening to Michael Bidwill on 98.7 FM just now and anyone thinking this team is going to be aggressive in FA should disavow themselves of that notion right now.

He immediately started talking about not being able to spend whatever it takes because of salary cap constraints, and that you often have to overpay in FA, then talked about building through the draft, then talked about how many guys were coming back off IR and how BJ Ojulari was going to be dominant.

But what was really just sad was hearing the radio guys just be utter wimps when asking the toughest question. They tried to lob a softball and saying is this the year where you can really go for it in FA now that the base is built and Michael responded what do you mean? They then stumbled for words when the obvious thing they wanted to and should have said was: Are you going to sit on 30 million of cap space again this year? Instead, they just backed down.

I wonder why...maybe because 98.7 is the radio home of your Arizona Cardinals? Definitely no conflict of interest there! State tv continues to push a terrible owner and product on us, and we have no recourse.

I dislike Mikey even more than Bill. At least Bill was less of a loathsome creature. The Bidwills are a generational curse, and would never in a million years be close to owning an NFL team unless they were one of the first ones in.
