With many of the pro days in it's time for my third Cardinal Mock draft. I really don't want the Cardinals to draft a QB early this year. I just believe there is way too much talent in this years draft to reach for a questionable QB early. However I wouldn't mind drafting a QB later, which is what I do here:
1) Corey Davis - WR - W. Mich
This is my guy. I've been pimping him for a couple of months now. With this most likely being Fitz's final year now is the time to bring in his replacement. Davis would get a full year learning from one of the all time great WRs. Davis is a beast. He has the Size speed and route running skills to be one of the best WRs in the NFL.
2) Budda Baker - FS - Washington
Baker is often compared to Tyrann Mathieu and they even both wear #32. He may be undersized but Baker is a playmaker very much like the Honey Badger. At the combine he ran a 4.45 forty. Is there such thing as a herd of Honey Badgers? Or maybe a Pride of Honey Badgers? I don't know but I sure would like to find out!
3) **** Tabor - CB - Florida
A pedestrian 40 has sent Tabor's draft stock tumbling. However his tape doesn't lie. This confident DB would be given a chance to earn a spot opposite from PP.
4) Chad Kelly - QB - Ole Miss
The Nephew and godson of HoF QB Jim Kelly. Off field issues and a knee injury have caused his draft stock to fall. However he has all of the tools you want from a QB. Very athletic and is a dual threat. Would need a year or two to learn the offense.
5a) Julie'n Davenport - OT - Bucknell
The Cardinals love to find gems from small schools an they think they have found another one in Davenport. This kid is raw but has all of the physical attributes you look for in an OT.
5b) Wayne Gallman - RB - Clemson
The unsung hero of the Tigers stellar season. Gallman will get you the tough yards. Because RB is so deep in both FA and the Draft this year I believe that RBs will slide some this year as teams fill up early on the positions that are not very deep. This will mean that a RB like Gallman could drop into the 5th round.
6) Xavier Woods - SS - La Tech
Hard hitting safety. This kid is always around the ball and is an amazing ball hawk. La Tech coaches all rave about him and his work ethic. He is the kind of player who Steve Keim loves. This is another kid who loves football and will do whatever it takes to be great.
7) Antony Auclair - TE - Laval (Canada)
This is another small school prospect from Canada of all places who would be a project at TE. He started generating buzz after the East West Shrine game where he made some plays an looked the part. He can catch the ball and is a good blocker.
