Well several franchise moves have been made that requires me to make updates to my original offseason plan. Not keeping Leonard Davis really threw a monkey wrench into my plans also.

Big Free Agent Signings:
1. Patrick Kerney DE Atl
Big, strong and fast. With Berry coming off an injury plagued season and starting to show his age, Kerney would be an instant starter who reminds me of a more athletic version of KVB.

2. Jon Stinchcomb OT New Orleans
Stinchcomb becomes the best option for us at Offensive Tackle with the loss of Davis. Signing him is almost a necessity.

3. Al Johnson C Dal
Johnson could come rigth in and compete with Leckey for the starting job at Center. Isn't the best run blocker but excells in the passing game.

4. Daniel Graham TE NE
With NE franchising Samuels, Graham is sure to become a free agent. He instantly becomes one of the best Free Agents on the Market. Graham is an all around TE that can Block just as well as he can catch the ball.

Small Free Agent Signings:

1. Napoleon Harris LB Minn
Athletic with good size and speed. Can cover any TE. Will allow Dansby to be moved to WSLB.

2. Reggie Howard CB Carolina
A very quick CB who is much needed by the Cardinals

3. Terrance Holt S Det
Great instincts with good ball skills. Is a great open field tackler. Isn't afraid to support stopping the run. Would compete with Francisco at FS.

4. Ron Dayne RB Hou
Dayne is a big back that could be used in short yardage situations. Similar to how Bettis was used in Pittsburg towards the end of his career.

Well two of the guys I though we would bring in are slated to visit us. Holt would come in and compete with Francisco at FS. Johnson would come in and compete with Leckey at C. Not flashy players but players who could push for a starting job or provide quality depth.

Plus I like Roderick Hood over Reggie Howard so signing him would be a good move. I still would love to land Stinchcomb but for some reason I'm not getting a good feeling about that happening at this time. Also Graham and Kerney are looking like pipe dreams.

All right, Here is my final offseason projection before the Free Agency period opens up.

Draft Picks:
1. Alan Branch DT Mich
Stopping the run should be the number on priority on defense.

2. Josh Wilson CB Maryland
Very fast and fluid CB who can cover the fastest of NFL WRs

3. Craig Davis WR LSU
Speedster who can go deep and help in the return game

4. James Martin T Boston College
Good big prospect at tackle

5. John Beck QB BYU
Smart with a quick release because it's time to release Navarre

6. Orenthal O'Neal FB Ark St
O'Neal will give Whisenhunt the quaility blocking FB that he is looking for.

Wow Wow Wow!

I just got back from Vacation and I can't believe how great we did in the draft. I originally thought that Branch was a possibility for our first round pick. Landing him in the Second round is unbelievable! He could end up being the steal of this draft.

We now have a great rotation at NT. Watson and Branch can both split time at the position and remain fresh for the entire game and 16 game season. Not to mention how valuable they will be in goal line situations.
Our biggest needs this off-season were adding players that can help establish the run and help stop the run. We filled both those needs with our first two picks.

I was somewhat disappointed that we used the #5 pick on Brown but it appears that he was who the coaching staff really wanted with that pick. I still have concerns about Brown's pass blocking ability. However if Brown can help establish a running game he will make this team that much more deadly on offense. Teams will have to commit more players to spotting the run thus opening up more passing lanes for our WRs. I just hope that Grimm can teach this kid to be an aggressive run blocker.

Buster Davis will be somewhat of a liability defending the pass. He is just to small and can't take away passing lanes like a bigger LB can. I think he will however help with stopping the run. He should be able to hide behind our Big DTs and make several plays behind the line of scrimage. To bad he wasn't three-four inches taller. Got to love his attitude though!
