Maybe we're not that far apart. A couple of catalysts (i.e. top ten players at their position) is kind of what I mean.

At a minimum we need a legit pass-rusher. I also think we need a legit CB1, and then either for DRob to morph into Darnell Dockett or to pick up somebody an IDL a step and half above Bilal Nichols.

But somebody said you can't have a star at every position and of course I agree with that.
I would love for us to add two top ten players at their position, and think that would make a huge difference overall for our D. I just don't see Monti doing it. Prove me wrong Monti...prove me wrong.

Who? Name some guys you think are top 10 and available?

Not a great FA class for what we need.

If I took any of these guys it would be Kirk.

Could you imagine the story of Kirk returning home after he chased big money with Jacksonville and finally realized his true home is in Arizona.

Kirk would return home to the open arms of Bidwill and Mike wouldn't care that Christian threw rocks at cars during the Phoenix Open or chased big money elsewhere. All would be forgiven. However, Deandre Hopkins, the older receiver, would be jealous that the Cardinals forgave Kirk. Hopkins feels that he should be the one rewarded with a new contract by the Cardinals not Kirk. But Bidwill responds to Hopkins by saying "We have to celebrate and be glad! Kyler's deep ball died when Kirk left and now he has returned. The Kyler's deep ball was lost and now is found."

So it is written in the gospel of Luke... Kuechly?

If I took any of these guys it would be Kirk. Lockett & Kupp have lost a step. They’re not going to trade Samuel to Cards. Adams is an attitude issue. Davis not worth money for #3 receiver. Ridley big gamble at that price.

I think Kupp is exactly the kind of receiver Kyler needs. Not the team, Kyler.

The team needs an Alex Pierce type guy as Chopper said, I have my doubts that Kyler could use him much. Kyler needs a savvy vet that he can trust to get open on 3rd and 6. Theilen would be ideal but Kupp will fit the bill too.

Easy fix. You draft traits and ability and fix the technical.

Not many people move like him at 6'7" and 350lbs. Not many rush like 290lb DT at 350. He's exactly what we need in the middle.

If JG likes him - you know he will get that dude straight/consistent.

I don't think they bring him back as a G, but I do believe he will be offered Kelvin Beachum's role as swing tackle. He will want to see his market as a starter but if it is not robust, I could see him signing here.

That's a good shout actually. I think he'd take $2.5m a year to be swing.

I said I would love for it to happen, not that I think it's realistic this offseason. (outside of trades, a path Monti has refused to utilize)

Unfortunately there were some options available last offseason and we completely passed on adding impact players.

All depends on his market as a starting OT but I am sure it wouldn't be too far from Beachum's contract. If there is concern about Jonah, maybe the Cardinals would pay more.

Who would you like to see us add? If we lose White I was looking at Zach Baun. Sweat is intriguing but is he a difference maker?

I would take a swing through trade to acquire a premium talent...a guy like Maxxxx. Another guy that is intriguing is BJ Hill from Cincinnati. He's probably a little older than I'd like, but the FA pool for DT is very shallow at this point.

Max will be 28 so they wouldn’t get a first…but a second round pick I would be in….wonder if the titans would dangle Simmons?

Do you remember Steve Breaston?
Dude only caught about 60% of his targets but consistently averaged 10 to 15 yards a catch...he made Fitz and Q better. Not because he caught 10 passes a game but because when he caught it the defense was hurt.
Your deep threat only has to catch 2 out of 5 targets to be a serious enough threat that the defense has to back off when he is on the field.
That backing off opens the run game as well as the intermediate pass attack...then when they start to creep you go over the top again.

Hill would be very good. I wouldn’t think twice getting a guy like Crosby. He would make this defense instantly better. Adding both of these guys and supplement that with the draft and this defense could easily be top 10.

Above average starters. (I don't see much of a difference, as most above average players are above average starters)
To me Collins is an above-average player but below average starter. Jones and Nichols were above average players but below average-ish starters.

Kyler wouldn’t throw to Steve Breaston my man.

He’s played in only 20 games in the last two years. His last year with the Cards and his first year with the Jaguars were his best. He’s never had over 800 yards in any year.
I’m really not interested in him.
How much volume do you expect the third passing option in this offense to get? Michael Wilson had 71 targets this season.

EDIT: This is the real reason why we're unlikely to attract or invest in a legit WR2.

Okay. But understand that Steve Breaston had 113 targets in his 1,000 yard season with us, and no less than 82 in the two seasons following.

If you're looking for a free agent with ideal size and speed and hands who will change the geometry of the offense, you're going to have to throw the ball more to attract them and/or justify the cost.
