madden 08 vs. madden 07

I just purchased the new madden for my PS2. I was expecting all kinds of new bells and whistles, but it's basically the same as '07.

Then, my friend bought a madden 08 for his xbox and he says it's COMPLETLY different than last years with all kinds of new features.

I am wondering if i got some kind of crazy, messed up copy of madden. Can someone with a PS2 tell me what the new madden is like for them so i hav something to compare to.

Yep, I'm considering rushing my 360 purchase, and will ask for Madden as a gift. I aint spending $60 on it, but I want it really bad.

Yea, it's too bad. I am a Playstation guy, i know the system so well i don't have to think about it at all. Switching over to xbox at this point would be the equivalent of trying to learn a new language...

It's an easy language to learn. Plus that pesky phrase "long loading times" doesn't exist.

I was a PS1 and PS2 guy, then got an xbox about a year or so after it launched. My PS2 became an instant dust collector.

08 vs 07 for PS3 is alot better this year. Its fun to play and it is hard also. I still cant find a way to edit player positions which is a big deal to me. But the game play is fun.

I know that this is sort of off topic, but I just played NFL2k5 again and realized how much better it is - still - than Madden. Though I'm still enjoying Madden on my 360 this year despite the horrible bugs. (Ridiculous franchise stats, player progression, players arm sizes changing if you edit them, players contracts defaulting to 3 years if you edit them, the 2x INT bug, etc.)

You can fix the franchise stats problem by super simming every CPU game in your franchise with 4 minute quarters. This is incredibly time consuming, but at least it works. (Takes about 15 minutes to manually super sim a week.)

2kSports absolutely kills EA in terms of presentation:

For example, anyone remember the weekly wrap-up show? It had highlights, news, and rumors at the end of each week.

I still have that game. I sold my xbox but kept that game.

Has anyone played Madden 08 on the Wii? I have a PS2 and a Wii, and it sounds like it isn't really worth it to replace 07 on the PS2.

I've been trying to rent the Wii version from BB before buying it, but it's always gone. As long as it's basically the same version (not simplified), I'll go ahead and buy it.

I bought it for the pc again this year, and well, I won't be buying again on launch day. I won't be buying at all until they upgrade it.

I don't mind Madden, but they don't do enough to justify spending $60 each year to upgrade.

I love madden 08 for the 360 this year, however like most people I really wish they would actually start using the espn license and bump up the presentation like nfl 2k5 theirs was amazing and made franchise that much more fun Also i'm not a huge fan of the way you train players in 08 on the 360 I wish they would go back to the regular training camp way of doing it so much easier to build up your players. But overall madden 08 for the 360 is a real fun game to play and still takes up a lot of your time

I'm already on the fence about just selling my 360 copy on eBay for $40-45 and putting it towards Bioshock. The only mode that I really play is Franchise, and it's completely broken. (Hoping for a patch, but EA doesn't care about the "sim" crowd, apparently.)

Once again, the PC version of Madden is the best version.

Maybe from the "sim" perspective but most people play Madden and other console sports games for the superior action. I personally think all PC sports game suck. I have yet to play a superior version of Madden on a PC.

A mid range PC at this point is essentially the PS2 version with widescreen support, on steroids.

Madden on the 360 just lacks so much. It was rushed, without a doubt. Yes, its much prettier, but for anyone who likes franchise it's nearly unplayable unless you supersim every single game aside from yours.

Color me unimpressed. Way too many fumbles (Edge fumbled 3 times on one drive) and the choppiness, poor player modeling (Edge with long dreads?) YUCK!
