We've got too many Madden threads.
There's 2 in the Cardinal forum, and a couple in the Gaming one.
I'm double posting to make sure all people interested in Madden get a chance to read through this:

Ok, here are a couple of developer blogs.
Promises from a creator can seem hollow if they're not great at following through, but they deserve the benefit of the doubt:

Agreed. Can't do anything about the Cards forum, but the ones here I merged into the sticky at the top of the page.

Well i'm going to be buying madden 09 mainly because its the only football game on the market I was real disapointed with madden 08 franchise was boring and the online play was so so. I just hope they add more details to franchise like maybe a option be it a small one like team meetings to focus on certain player watching film before the game etc you figure they could add this in next gen heck nfl 2k5 had it for crying out loud on reg xbox. I'm not expecting big things but i'm a fooball fan and need a football videogame and madden 09 is my only choice maybe i'll be surprised and it turns out be a good game unlike 08

I think the one thing I'd like to see is being able to make wholesale subsitutions...When you're whipping the other team, just put in the entire 2nd string.

Isn't this option in Madden? I know its in NCAA, but I thought it was in Madden as well.

If it is, I don't know about it. I only know how to substitute by position. I just want to be able to send the entire 2nd string in without going through each position.

In a van...down by the river.

I just use the substitution package feature(pre-snap). I have a few for both offense/defense. I name them "spell secondary" or "spell D-Line"....and i have one(spell defense) that brings in a backup at every position. The drawback is that it goes by formation so you've got to activate it every time you go to a different formation (but it will stay with your subtitutions from that point on at least).
It would be nice to be able to go to your bench regardless of formation automatically.

Screen shots look like you still can watch your opponent pick his play. I liked the old playbooks soooooooo much better. Having to go by formation and everything is too much work and I usually just ask madden and go through his list of plays. Then when I snap it, the guy next to me saw me pick it so it doesnt work anyway.

From the preview, you can hide your play now.

you could hide your platy before by holding down a button. Problem is, no instructions come with the game and the game doesnt teach you all of the controls. I dont know how they think that is a great idea but it sure pissed me off.

I'm a lone wolf in that I freaking love Madden. It's football season before football season, for me.

You are not alone, I love Madden too. I guess I have just gotten to a place where I can take Madden for what it is. Sure it could be better, but there is really nothing I can do about it. So I just enjoy the game and kick all my friends ass in it...which more than makes up for the things the game is lacking.

I love madden too, I buy it every year. My son and I will fire up franchise mode and play it off and on all year long. I'm the Cards and he's the Colts. We definitely get our $45 worth.

downloaded the NCAA demo for my annual madden preview. Playcalling is fixed as you put your curser on a play but the other 3 plays on screen have their own buttons to click and choose them.

Does anyone know what special add-ons come with the Madden 09 20th Anniversary Collector's Edition besides having NFL Head Coach 09 added in it? It's way more expensive- just curious about the extra bells and whistles.

I pre-ordered it too. Mostly because I didn't feel hosed enough on the original Head Coach and decided EA needed more of my money...

Per EA store (notorious liars)

The Madden NFL 09: Collector's Edition includes:
  • Full version of Madden NFL 09
    • The First Sports Game that Adapts to You
    • All-new Adaptive Difficulty Engine dynamically tailors experience to match individual skill levels

    • Online Leagues with up to 32 teams, featuring detailed stats tracking and flex scheduling
  • Full Version of NFL Head Coach 09
    • Design your own playbook with fully featured Play Creator
    • Seamlessly integrate user-created plays into Madden NFL 09
    • All-new Live Event System for free agency, trades, and contracts
    • Every decision impacts your approval rating with fans, media, players and coaches

I've never tried the Head Coach game. I might have to make the plunge this year.

the most realistic graphics in Madden NFL history

Huh? Shouldn't the graphics get better each year anyway?

[*]Online Leagues with up to 32 teams, featuring detailed stats tracking and flex scheduling

This would be very cool if you could get 32 guys together.

good luck even getting 8,, they had it on 2k5 and the leagues never lasted. It had trades, everything, was bad ass and would go a week, show u ur opponents and you have to schedule a match with them.

Great concept till:

half the people dont show or you cannot get online the same times of day.

Half the people in the league you cant connect to because EA servers suck.

etc....

dont get too excited.

I"m downloading the madden 09 demo right now from xbox live can't wait to try it, as far as leagues for this game go to operationsports.com they have a great madden forum and no doubt in my mind you will be able to find a active league there when the game comes out aug 12th.

you can find an active league but will still have major issues from my experience with online leagues and online madden.

Saw the demo, downloaded it, forgot about it, cant wait to try it out.

I preordered this a month ago.. Ive had my PS3 almost a year now and this will only be my 3rd game for it lol.. I still havent finished Assassins Creed and Im only 11% thru GTA4 lol.. This weekend though Ive been on a video game tear.. But I always play Maddens year round, so this game is an obvious choice.. Plus its the 1st real PS3 gen Madden, unlike the 08 (which I only bought for PS2)..
