Dear Brian: When the Crew owners and management moved the Crew vs Inter Miami game to Cleveland, a great many loyal Crew fans felt sucker-punched by the Crew. The Crew told season-ticket holders that they would be given “comparable seats" in Cleveland. Speaking for myself and a great many other Crew season-ticket holders, the Cleveland seats we were given do not come even close to our seats in Columbus. By moving the game, the Crew have lost a lot of goodwill and support of their loyal fan base -- something the Crew should cherish and hold dearly. In the long run, the Crew have lost far more than they realize and far more than they will gain. In addition, the Crew have gut-punched the many businesses in Columbus that depend on the added revenue they get on home game days. The Crew want loyal fans, and the fans want a loyal team. Loyalty works both way, something that the Crew owners and management don’t seem to understand. Go Crew!!! ... Just not to Cleveland.
Disappointed in the Columbus Crew.

To Chet: I agree it is not fair to a very loyal fan base to move the prime game on the schedule far away from Columbus. It's a blatant money play. I also think Crew fans would be less upset if the team just doubled or tripled the price for the game and kept it at Lower.com Field.

To the editors: I have been a Browns fan since I could turn the dial on the TV set. Anyone remember those days? I have been a taxpayer not quite as long. I am passionate about both. However, I am ready to adjust my loyalties if the Haslams (Pittsburgh-ers before Browns) choose to use their billions to tax my fellow Ohioans millions. They let a GM (with consent) throw $230 million at one player, and we are witnessing the "oops " that spawned. Joe Burrow would be a noble alternative that espouses my values.
Anyway, since amateur hour has been relegated to high school and below (I think ... I hope), please include me in the category of a brand loyal supporter and a people person skeptic.

To Brian: Ohio State football does rake in the money. The university also fields teams in about three dozen other sports that don't and are paid for by that football money, and the athletic department doesn't run a surplus. Someone who writes in with the idea that Ohio State football players should be paid 25% of the gross revenue needs to write back to recommend which of those teams are to be cut to free up that money. Which of those other student-athletes should lose their scholarships used to earn actual academic degrees while having the opportunity to play their sport? And remember to remain compliant with Title IX.

To the editor: Ryan Day needs a bucket of Advil to cope with this new era of NIL. Take our best and most talented player, Jeremiah Smith. He seems like a wonderful Buckeye who has a scarlet and gray heart. How lucky Buckeye nation is. Just imagine if our stellar receiver decided to sit out a game or a half unless he got paid another $50,000. Sounds incredible, but that is what Tennessee quarterback Nico Iamaleava did. Make that extra strength Tylenol, coach Day.
