This one hurts, with him I think UCLA was preseason top 10. They still have a chance to be good but they lose their best defender and most consistent player and they have to replace him with a soph who couldn't shoot(Lamb) a talented but raw Freshman(Norman Powell) and possibly some minutes from Juco transfer De'End Parker and Senior Jerime Anderson the backup PG.

Howland was his typical classy self it was clear he didn't think Lee should leave he and Lee both said the reports project him as a 2nd rounder and he still can't workout yet because he's not 100% recovered from knee surgery, so it's a real gamble. His dad said he's ready to go and wants to commit fully so he's withdrawing from school and will hire an agent and workout in Vegas.

I wish him luck, great kid, I think he's making a mistake but I hope it works out for him he was the main reason UCLA turned it around last year, his intense defense started to wear off on his teammates.

I'm a huge Norman Powell fan but my gut is he won't be ready in November and UCLA has a tough early schedule, I won't be surprised at all if Powell is UCLA's best SG by March, he is an athletic freak but he's got to improve his ballhandling, left hand in particular, and smooth out the jumpshot. Would have been ideal if he could back up Lee this year.
