What, only guys have seen this movie?? :)

I dunno ... I've never been a fan of musicals brought to the big screen. Somehow, they just don't translate that well. I saw the show and remember thinking halfway thru "is this thing going to get better?"

Same as the movie - it seemed kinda slow in the beginning, but picked up towards the end and had a great ending. Somehow I just don't buy Meryl Streep singing, dancing and doing splits in mid-air. In general, the cast butchered the music even tho Meryl wasn't too bad. The men singing - yikes! The daughter can sing well, tho.

It' give it 3 stars out of 5.

Decent tunes, 4 or 5 really good/funny song and dance routines, and over an hour of ridiculous, way too far over the top drek. Streep did a credible job of singing. The young bride to be was so irritating that I could hardly stand it. Scenery was awesome.

If you haven't seen it yet, save your money and catch it on video. Not a stinker, but overall, not very good. 2.5 out of 5 stars. However you choose to see it, watch the credits.

My wife loves musicals (Moulin Rouge, Chicago, Hair spray etc..). I will sit through these to have a bargaining chip later to make her sit though one of my science fiction or action movies. However, we both thought this movie was below average with a few funny moments. The one redeeming quality about this film was Amanda Seyfried. She's damn cute.
