Say what you want about the guy, but Kurt Warner is beyond a shadow of a doubt, the best QB for our team, given the WR's we possess... I just can't help but feel that next season, our offense will be starting over again, and will be throttled back due to Matt still ramping up, and Whiz's desire to run more...

Matt will need to start and show (or not) that he can become the legit QB of the Future. As much as I would love to see Warner start and play one more season with this team, Matt needs to get his chance...
I'm bummeed though, as the impact that both Fitz and Q can have on a game will be greatly diminished...

Hope I'm wrong...

I agree with you. I am tired of people talking as though Warner is the only QB that throws interceptions in the NFL.

Hopefully, Whiz will use preseason to get a better feel for what Matt can do. I think the verdict is still out as to how good he is.

Additionally, it's been said that although we might possess two better than average receiving TE's in Pope & Patrick, Whiz is more interested in developing dominant blocking TE's first...

We'll have to wait and see how it all shakes out, but I have a hunch that next season our offense is going to look a lot different...

Truth is, I'm at odds with myself on the QB issue. the fact is, I just really like both guys. My gut says that Kurt is the better fit, but Matt seems to be the prototype QB for the style Whiz wants to run.

Just do what I did, buy a Leinart and a Warner jersey and cheer them both on. It's much easier then trying to decide who I think is better. :D

Have to admit that this was Warner's best year as a cardinal, and he's playing better than many other starting QBs in the league.

I want hollywood to be the long term solution, but if I have a choice between Warner and the playoffs or riding and dying with ML, I'll take the 2nd season seven days a week and twice on sunday.

If Warner's performance does not light a fire under Matt to work his butt off in the off season then I don't what will.

I think Matt will come to next season strong with a lot of personal issues also being behind him.

We will see who wins the job next preseason.

Whomever takes the snaps opening game, I'll be behind him 100 percent. For every game he plays.

Yep, that may be the best thing about Warner's play this year. Leinart would have to be pretty stupid to not realize he'd better bring it 100% this offseason, in terms of time, effort and focus. If he doesn't, Whiz has a guy on the bench who threw 27 TDs this year and had the offense clicking at times.

Is Warner still considering retirement? I am not so sure he will be back next year. Also I like Warner I really really do, but I think that this year was the exception not the rule at this stage in his career.

Dude - he's already made it clear he'll play out his final year of his contract! Lately, he's actually suggested he'd like to play another year or two beyond next season... That might be a bit much to take, but I'm not so sure he couldn't be effective, really effective in '08...

And it was actually funny to see how reluctantly he got those!

Another note: Only at a Cardinals game does the QB get cheered for throwing the ball out of bounds! Hilarious!

Well, after he usually tries to do too much and screws up, seeing him throw it out of bounds is flat out amazing.

They didn't show a replay on the telecast but on the first interception, when Warner threw it I really thought he was throwing it out of bounds and it wound up just fluttering up in the air for a pick. Did his arm get hit or the ball get tipped? The ball didn't end up anywhere near a receiver so I'm guessing he wasn't trying to force it but I don't know.

I'm hoping for honest to god fair competition.

To be honest, I really don't know enough about the inner workings of the Cardinals to say how possible that really is. I am such a big fan of both guys, but more then anything, I love the Arizona Cardinals. I just hope that we have a fair and open competition that results in the best player being on the field next year. Whatever gives us the best chance to win.

I'll say this though, no matter who they pick, I'll be there for the home opener cheering them on to victory!

I'm greedy. I want three QB's on my roster who - with the personnel we've got - can go out there and light it up.

Injuries aren't a possibility/they're a probability. Find a third guy and let all three of them compete for the starting spot within the context of a 3-man QB Position that needs to be productive regardless of who's out there and where each guy busts his butt to help one another make the position stronger.

And, as long as we're on the subject of quality depth - you can make a similar point about every other position on our roster. Our 53rd-rated guy should be a gamer who can step right in and help win a game for us.

That's what we should be shooting for.

You don't think every team "shoots" to have the sort of depth you desire?? "3 Qb's who can light it up"?? The "53rd-rated guy should be a gamer who can win a game for us"?? Dude, even the Pats don't have this arrangement!

After seeing replays of the first pick, I do think that Warner's intent was to throw the ball out of bounds. There was a defender coming in hard as Warner began his release, he was unable to step into the throw, or even to extend his arm on the release.

I agree, Warner was not trying to make the play by throwing into a tight spot on that particular play.

Nope. I respectfully disagree. I believe some teams are happy with 2 good QB's and content to have a 3rd guy they can develop. Some teams will pay their top 10 players so much that they're willing to pass up talent at the bottom end and risk having untested young guys or aging vets as backups there. Some teams are on the upswing with regard to adding more talent. Some are on the downswing and are either decaying or holding fire sales in order to bite the bullet and turn over their rosters. Some will be in denial and try to coax one more year out of their aging vets. Some teams are better at developing young talent; others prefer to trade for talent.

No, I don't think every team strives for the goal of having every one of their 53 guys contribute (They may say so, but I don't think many of them really mean it). It's too tempting to cut corners. It may be taking us longer than most fans would like, but I do believe making our roster solid from top to bottom is the direction that Graves (and now Wiz & Co.) is trying to take us.

Whis made it clear Leinart has to perform. I am ok with that. If he can't cut it Warner will be back in.

Leinart does deserve some time to prove himself. If we improve the OL even more next year with an upgrade to the LG position I really believe our offense will be ok.
