Man of Steel vs. Iron Man 3

Not in a fight mind you, we all know that only reason that Iron Man would survive a fight with Superman is because Superman would hold back and not kill him, I mean in the box office.

We can't really compare the movies themselves, since no one has seen both (yet!), but who do you think will do better in the box office overall?

I think Iron Man will win, just because RDJ is an established star in a familiar role. Superman is going to more critically-acclaimed, but I bet fewer people see it.

Today's teens know Iron Man and will line up to see the movie. Not to mention Marvel has always beaten DC in the theaters.

I'll see both but I think more will see Iron Man as that franchise is a juggernaut right now.

coming on the heels of the Avengers and a good trailer, Iron Man will blow everything else out of the water this summer. Probably will hit 350 million. i'm guessing Supes tops out at 250.

it may be better, but it won't come close to making as much money. It's coming on the heels of a lackluster Superman that pretty much killed the franchise as it tried to restart it and it's got a no-name lead. RDJ + Avengers aftermath = Ridiculous Gobs of $ for IM3.

I think Superman as a brand is still huge, especially internationally. The last Superman was considered a dud but still hauled in just shy of 400 mil, I bet this one doubles it.

Superman sucks on so many levels. The character is boring, he is invincible, his secret identity is stupid...he is a relic of an era that no one currently can relate to. As a comic book fan, I probably won't even see it in the theater.

Hopefully they do better with this Superman though. The last one was awful. He was like Superman the creepy stalker, hanging out in the bushes and using his xray vision to spy on Lois.

even if Nolan was directing, I think it would be a long shot. And seeing as he's only a producer, it just makes it even longer.

Never underestimate the lure of Superman. And the complacency of the Iron Man franchise. Personally, I didn't like #2 very much and I think it will hinder the staying power of #3.

Iron Man 3 is looking at making 174 million this weekend compared to IM2 making 128 it's opening weekend. Whatever bad taste was left after IM2 was washed away by the Avengers.

my first response was to Phrazbit who threw out the 400 million worldwide number for Superman (2006). Thus, 650 worldwide. 174 domestic. Try to keep up here Ken!

I was waaaaaaaaaaaaay off on this prediction. Iron Man 3 made more in its first 3 days than ol Clark Kent has hauled in a month.

looks like I was about 50 million wrong on both of these finale tallies, but it looks like I was right on the discrepancy between the two at around 100 million.
