The other day I predicted something that I now believe the opposite will be true. I hate it when that happens. My draft contacts with real status tell be they're being inundated today with info requests for everything they have on players who figure to be mid to late first rounders. Of course they've already passed along the primary info, several teams now want to know everything in great detail. I got asked (not by a team) to look at a piece of film and see whether I agreed an issue existed, what was the cause if it was an issue, could it be fixed and how hard would it be to get it fixed. Keep in mind I don't do this anymore! Teams are inordinately desparate for info. So what was I wrong about? I posted few trades and now I believe several teams want to go down and are making acceptable requests for compensation. Do several trades are in my forecast. Sorry for the flip flop.

That is surprising I really didn't figure much activity in this draft, if teams want to move down will their be any teams that want to move up?

Good stuff Harry, you are still out in front of what should happen in the draft so it's not a mistake.

I guess it would be in bad form for me to ask for a mock draft. :)

Mock drafts require much more time than I can get motivated to offer these days, but I'm flattered you asked. I thought the one Rugby posted fits much of the data I'm aware of in this draft. I might be the luckiest guy you know and I'm determined to take time to smell the roses. I love the draft, but I've got several loves.

Harry, you may not post so often as you once did, but anytime I see you threads, I read, because you ALWAYS have something significant to contribute. Thanks for all you do for us.

curious if a bunch of teams looked at their board and concluded that, lets say, the 40th player wasnt all that much different from the 80th player --

and as a result, everyone wants to trade back

I could see the Cardinals moving up; if they are able to broker a deal they are comfortable with! Michael Bidwill said as much this morning in an interview with Doug & Wolf.

But probably not very far up. . . Bidwill also said that there are "around" a dozen or so players that they would be happy with in the first round.

So as long as several of them remain available I don't see the Cardinals making a move, but if their list gets trimmed down to just a couple remaining, they may want to move up a few spots to get one of them.

I wonder what type of action we may get from teams wanting to trade back up into the first round for a QB or Derrick Henry (Cowboys). They get the 5th year option, so that is valuable (especially for a QB).

Cleveland or San Francisco would make sense to trade up for a QB (too high to take one where they are in rd 1).

I also think #4 is too high to take a RB, so getting Ramsey or a DE at #4 and then still getting a RB (Derrick Henry) by trading back into the late 1st seems like a good deal for Dallas. Cleveland or the Baltimore might be interested in doing the same thing for Henry.

Todd McShay said there are really only about 15 to 20 players in this years draft with a true 1st rd grade. What does this mean for the Cards. If they believe a player that has 1st rd talent will drop enough that they can trade up and get them they very well might. If not they will try and trade back because there is a ton of 2nd rd talent in this draft so why not pick up an extra pick or two and still get the same caliber of talent.

This would also allow for taking a risky character type player being taken at 29.

Then I hear that there are DT's that will get drafted in rd 2 that would have gone in rd 1 in most other years, and those drafted in the 4th and possibly 5th rd that will be starters in the NFL.

I'm also hearing more and more and more pundits loving on Ryan Kelly.

One more time on Kelly. He is easily the best center available. Because of the blocking calls it's preferable to have an experienced center. Kelly is the exception because of the Alabama program. No team prepares that position better to play immediately. That said Kelly is likely not a special talent. He figures to be a decent but ordinary center. You can take centers later who may not start day 1, but can eventually outplay Kelly. It depends if you team is desperate. I don't think the Cards are.

I guess I won't hate the pick but I would prefer another pass rusher or CB if they are BPA.

I also like Nick Martin a lot/would be an immediate upgrade for us but he won't make it to our pick in rd 3.
