Rivers in round 5 might be ok because he'll still be there.

Manning. People continually question Rivers' arm strength for the pro level. If there is nothing to it, then why hasn't it gone away?

Whats it really matter?

I like Manning, but if your gonna question Rivers, dont question his arm strength. I could go through a list of 10 QB's (some of which still play in the league) who had below average arm strength and were successful.

If he has it up there (brain) it doesnt matter if his arm stregnth is below average, or if his mechanics suck etc et al.

Dont buy into that media garbage!

Typically I don't. Based on what I've seen, Rivers might make the first round. But, not as high as we'll pick.

What's the point of drafting a franchise QB if we don't put the right coaching staff around him to help develop him?

I almost don't want the Cardinals to draft Manning unless they hire some top-quality coaches to get the most out of him.

Eli Manning has looked really good, the three games that I have seen him in this year. Rivers has also looked good but Manning looks like he is good enough to start his first year. He is calm in the pocket, can scramble like Roger Staubach, and is very acurate in his short and medium passing game.

Manning could start his first year. He is farther along than his brother was at this point. Rivers is a bit more of a project, but don't let his weird release fool you; this guy will be a Sunday player.

For that matter Roethlisberger will be as well, but he will take a year or two also. Like Leftwich, he will have a major adjustment to make to the speed of the NFL. The SEC has much better defensive backs than the MAC.

For what it's worth...

...I saw Ben R complete a 25 yard out pattern into a 20 mph hour wind in the game vs. Marshall on ESPN...that kid has a serious NFL arm...seems to have a good mental make-up and the MAC has clearly proven this year that they play great DI football.

Off topic - but I could not possibly care less about Ed B's opinion of my annual blind optimism.

Ok. We all understand that Jason White of Oklahoma has lost a lot of mobility with the knee problems.

But, is his name not even going to mentioned once? The guy is having an incredible season. He will probably win the heisman. When was the last time the Cardinals had a heisman trophy winner on the roster?

You want to talk about courage and leadership and perseverance and all those other intangibles that QBs are supposed to have, White has those in spades!

Im not saying that we should take him with the 1st pick of the first round.

But, if the guy is still there at pick, say, #100 lets bring him in just to liven up the competition a little.

What year is he? Will he even be in the draft this year?

Miami should play Eminem's "I'm a Soldier" during pre game introductions.

Manning. He is the prototype NFL quarterback but IMO the most important aspect to consider is that as much as everyone talks about the huge risk involved with 1st round quarterbacks (Ryan Leaf, Cade McNown, Dave Klingler, etc..) with Manning I don't see that sort of uncertainty. He's not a 1 year wonder, he's been around the NFL game his entire life and he has a brother who is a top NFL QB right now giving him advice. These guys are a really tight family and Peyton is most definately getting Eli prepared for the NFL. Eli should be further along than Peyton was as a rookie and he threw for 3000 yards as a rookie. Not only is he talented enough to be a star in the league but he is as close to a sure thing as you'll ever get. I just don't see the question marks usually associated with draft prospects pertaining to Eli.

War Room gives him a 4.0 potential rating (10-scale), which means he should be a 4th - 5th round selection. Sorry...

Anyway, they give both Manning and Roetlisberger a 8.8 rating. By comparison the pre-draft ratings last year were: Palmer 8.8, Leftwich 8.7, Boller 8.4 & Grossmann 8.2.

Man I'm here to hear ya. How can we go wrong with this pick and his pedigree?

This kid grew with the NFL. The competition with his brother would be fun to watch.

I have a problem with the fact that this is the Cards org. and signing him on time before it got ugly would most likely come into play but geeze, we blew the last one. Don't let this guy slip away from us if we have him in our sites.

Oh and Z99, I sent the tape of the last win finally. It could be the last time we see this team win so it's going to get worn out man.

Thanks Super 8 I will be looking for it. I might get my AeroSmith CD and play Dream on while watching the game.

Oooohhhh, Aerosmith? I met Steven Tyler. Before I got into this business I worked in nightclubs and restaurants in Waikiki and Maui.

We had a kick as band on Maui and used to get a lot of celebrities jam with our band. Tyler, Stevie wonder, Loggins and Mesina, Elton John, Boz Skaggs (man, don't here that name much anymore but I partied with him and he's cool) to name a few. Steven Stills fell off the freaking stage. He was the town drunk (Lahaina). Ahhh, the good old days when you didn't care if you got fired!

Of course, that was the Steven Tyler before cleaning up. But he was very good.

i'll bet anyone on this board that Rivers won't be drafted in the top 2 rounds,I would say top 3 but the Cards took Mccown in round 3 so anything can happen in that round.

I mentioned him a week or so ago, round 3 or 4 if we don't get our future QB in the first round. I'd also look at Rivers there, the guys completing like 72 percent of his passes in a decent conference.

But you will also need some WRs to throw to and also have a OL that will block. This team needs a new coaching staff from the top on down. The only one I would keep is Sully and make him the WR coach again. Clean house.

Draft Manning.

HEre is a list of teams that could compete with us for a top 3 pick:

ATL won't take him since they have Vick
SD will shy away -they have Brees & were burned by Leaf
Jax - Leftwich will be the QB for years
NYJ is happy with Pennington
Chicago? Are they content with Rex G?
Pittsburgh - luckily they beat us - we will have the tie breaker vs them if we are tied
Raiders - many holes - QB is one of them
Detroit - Harrington
Buffalo - Bledsoe is getting up there - needs WR help
Cleveland - ditto Pitt
Houston - Carr is young & exciting - no QB help at this time
Wash - would jump on him
NYG - who knows
Tampa - Need more @ RB than anything else
SF - needs depth

I think if we continue at our current slide  that we are in good position to land Manning - granted someone like Seattle, Carolina, GB doesn't make a trade for the top pick....
