3 way deal, involving Jason Bay (another players supposedly targeted by the DBacks) going to Boston.

I like this deal for the BoSox. Bay only makes 7.5 Mil next season compared to Manny's 20 (assuming the option was picked up). Bay has put up decent numbers in PITiful, so I'm excited to see what he does with a lineup around him. His contract ends next season, so if it doesn't work out they can go after Holliday. Now if they'de fix their SS situation.

Dodgers have a mess in the outfield with Ethier Pierre Kemp Jones and now Manny.

I will definitely miss his bat in the playoffs, but his attitude on and off the field in recent weeks was inexcusable. I'm sure they were worried he would just give up.

Has he ever given up? The guy seems to produce all the time when it matters.

As a Pirate fan, hearing "Pittsburgh receives prospects" has gotten tired over the past several years. I'm planning on going to the first game of the series against the D-Backs in Phoenix. It won't be the team I thought I was going to see when I got the tickets over a week ago.

Yeah, Manny's 1.060 OPS in July must've really brought you guys down.

I would love to see what David Ortiz's statistics are without Manny Ramirez hitting behind him in the order. Anyone else notice career underachiever JD Drew all of a sudden hit All Star status once Ortiz went out and Tito put him in the three hole in front of Manny?

It doesn’t look like the Dodgers gave up anything to get this done. It is somewhat similar to the Gasol trade, go figure.

They do have a log jam in the out field but that can be a good problem to have. The only real question I have is how Jeff Kemp will deal with this. He hated the attention that Bonds always got and it is only going to be amplified with Manny. It could get interesting…..

The Pirates look like they got the worse end of this trade

I MEANT his recent comments and the clubhouse cancer he has become. Sitting out an important first game against NY because his "knee hurt", then failing to even lift the bat from his shoulder in a pressure PH spot at the end of the game. Playing like a moron in LF (even more than usual). Failing to hustle on the bases during DPs. I will really miss his bat in the playoffs, but who knows if they would have even made the playoffs with him.

Bay will be interesting. Not sure where he will hit. Know his avg with RISP is low, but how often does PIT have RISP? He is the opposite of Manny personality wise.

Defensively you're right, but Bay isn't anywhere close to Manny from an offensive standpoint. And it's not like Jason Bay is Willie Mays with the glove out there.

I know Bay is not as feared as Manny but his numbers are close to Manny's this year. I am going to wait and see what he can do with a team around him. I wouldn't be surpised to see his numbers jump from where they all ready are.

I'm not even going to pretend this wasn't a coup for the Dodgers. They have a motivated top 5 hitter maybe all time for the stretch run.

Makes me wish we could have gotten Texiera. The good news we will see if this intimidates our young boys right away with this four game set.

I completely agree. Bay is very underated and Manny is overated. Bay is a damn good ballplayer. As a matter of fact, as an all around player he is better than Manny. Look at his stats the last couple of years. He is much better than Manny defensively and is a better baserunner.

I couldn't care less that Manny went to LA. They don't have the pitching.

Jeez, the Dodgers really got a boost. Out of nowhere. Well, this division race is even tighter than before, and it was already tight.

I'm not too worried about this deal as a D'backs fan. The Dodgers have a log jam in the outfield now, but that doesn't really matter (they can bench Jones now, since he's horrible). The bigger problem is, who plays 3rd base for them? Dewitt? It seems like the Dodgers get better offensively but quite a bit worse defensively.

I think you mean Jeff Kent. He is nearing the twilight of his career. I don't think he'll react any more negatively to Manny's antics than the other Dodgers.

I have alot of respect for Manager Joe Torre, a former Catcher. I don't think he'll be Chicken-Catcher-Torre. I believe he'll motivate and monitor Manny effectively.

As far as the five outfielders. Juan Pierre missed alot of games on the DL and just came back to the starting lineup -- sometimes.

Andruw Jones has a .167 batting average. When we last played the Dodgers, Daron Sutton said, "At least it doesn't affect his fielding." On the very next play . . . he casually mis-handled a ball hit to center field.

Does anyone know if Manny will be playing in any of the games against the D'backs in this series? I imagine he'd be ready by the 3rd game for sure.
