I see him as a slow backup WILB in a 3-4 scheme. Perhaps one day a marginal starter if the team lacks talent at ILB. Personally I think you can get guys like this late in the draft.
Hey I could be wrong. I hope he succeeds, I just don't see it. A guy who can't turn and run, isn't very physical, isn't a MLB at the pro level, just screams 5th round or later.
IMO a bust waiting to happen for GM who picks him high on name. I didn't really care for either team in the championship game from a personal level, so I decided to root for Notre Dame. I really don't have anything against the kid. I just don't think he has it.
If OL'men don't touch him, he stays between the hashes and keeps the play in front of him, and QB's don't get anywhere near him, I think he can handle that. These things are RARE in the NFL. But OL'men will engulf him since they like to get to the 2nd level, rb's will bounce off him as they are bigger and stronger, not to mention quicker then in college, and many QB's/TE's will run right past him. He will be hard pressed to catch anyone down the sideline unless he's already there.
Ray Lewis in quite a few ways was a liability in certain areas the last few years, but he had instincts, strength, experience, and could tackle. So HE made it work. I think Te'o starts his career with less athleticism then Lewis left it. Te'o doesn't have those attributes Lewis still had.
I would rather use the pick somewhere else and re-sign Paris Lenon.
Good luck to him. Hope he proves me wrong.
