Did anyone hear Marbury on Rome today? He was all over the place, I had to change the station because I had no idea what he was saying half the time. :(

Yes, I heard snippets.

Among other things he kept raving about Amare - saying he was an all star and the best PF in the league.

Amare is really good, but I wouldn't call him the best PF in the league. Duncan and Garnett are both better if you consider them PF's. Amare is making great progress on both offense and defense. He's grabbing rebounds, blocking shots and his help defense has been pretty good. His one-on-one defense still needs work. He's hitting his mid-range shot is greatly improved. His dunking is still as awesome as ever. He's got some more post moves and lately he's passing better out of double teams. Still he has a long way to go to be close to Duncan and Garnett.

I still miss the good old Amare days of "Who is this guy? Oh, he just dunked on me and everyone I know," as opposed to, "It's Amare. Let's foul him before we wind up on a poster."

Or, "it's Amare Stoudemire. Let's double-team him, and watch and try to do too much."

I actually think Amare Stoudemire's one-on-one defense is one of his strengths. He tends to get into trouble when the action moves away from him, and he loses track of his defensive assignment or rebounding position.

I like it that Marbury is such a big fan of Amare, even if he gets carried away. I would be much more concerned if he resented all the attention Amare gets.

I agree that Duncan and Garnet are much better players right now. But Garnett did not do nearly as well as Amare his first year and Duncan as a rookie (with four years of college) had the luxury of playing next to Robinson at his peak.
