Gortat should be starting for just having a ride like this!

A part-time mechanic in his native Poland before he signed his first NBA contract, Gortat has made myriad modifications to the car that now includes an 800 horsepower engine, which is big even for a high-performance vehicle, and plenty of supercharged accessories.

It’s a new BMW M5, shiny and black and looking like a million dollars. “It could go over 200 mph, maybe 225 mph,” he said. “I don’t want to drive that fast, but what matters is how quick it goes from 0-60. I can pull up next to a Ferrari or Lamborghini at a light, look over, and they might start laughing. But when it turns green, I’m gone, waiting at the next light when they get there, and I’m the one laughing then.”

Let's hope J-Rich doesn't come to town for a night of fun with Gortat and his M5.

From the limited time I have seen Gortat play, he reminds me of a young Scott Pollard when he played for the Kings. This is not bad.

Magic fans just turned on Gortat as soon as he was traded so take their comments with a grain of salt. Before they were vastly overrating him. He may not have great hands but none of their guards are are any good at running the PnR either.

In a van...down by the river.
Would it be nice if Gortat had a reliable mid-range jumper? Of course it would(because then we'd have a PF similiar to Duncan) ,but we dont need that from him,and we don't need to try to make him into a jump shooter either.

He simply needs to own the paint defensively and on the glass, and take what the game gives him offensively.....playing with Nash will obviously create opportunities there, but there's already enough jump shooting.

(Realistically in this offensive system)I'd like to see Gortat get 12-15ppg by primarily cleaning up missed shots and converting them into points in the paint, drawing fouls by initiating contact inside etc...

Saw this on Nash's twitter and found it funny

RT @underxthebridge: @SteveNash Also if Gortat is the Polish Hammer, does that make @AmareIsrael the Hebrew Hammer? #GoSuns (Ok stop it.)

Not to forget that he is our best pick and "roll" player now.

Obviously videos make everyone look like an all star, but Gorat looks:

Big
Strong
Athletic
Long

and quick for big. He looks like he is comfotable with the pick and roll.

Considering he played without a PG like Nash (Ok, there is no PG like Nash but some guys are well above average distributors and Nelson not so much), I think Gorat could do really well here.

He is obsessed with the pick and roll. He has mentioned it in every interview so far.

Just the guy we need in the paint. I hope he rubs off on Lopez with the meanness.

Is Lopez going to be Gortat's Mini Me? He's awful big to be mini. :)

I'm interested to see how that works. The pick and roll works even better if the player can step back occasionally and take the 12-15 footer. Its not a necessity but it worked great with Nash and Amare. Malone used to do this too.

Gortat after the Heat game:

First of all I will start by saying that our contest (with Miami Heat) was of a very high level. We lost to a very strong team, which I consider the Miami Heat to be, but I think that after this game there are also positive outcomes. Right now I can boldly say that there is a lot of talent on our team. Although in front of us there is still a lot of collective work.

I'll admit that I look very optimistically towards the future, and already after several practices I can see our game improving, mainly from a defensive standpoint. It will be important that we pay a lot of attention to our defensive rotations. I am hopeful that this work will pay off in our Sunday game with the Los Angeles Clippers, and we'll be able to show ourselves from a better side.

Nothing has changed after our defeat to the Heat. I still believe that my new team's style of play suits me well. While analyzing my debut I concluded that on several occasions I should have given back the ball earlier whereas I looked for other options - someone to get open*, pick and roll's, and when I went back to the bench the coach pointed this out to me.

Certainly a lot of changes still await me. I have to make adjustments to the different style of play of my team, and that means I have to somewhat change my own style and approach to the game. Ultimately, I have to be ready to assume a larger presence in the offensive attack. I would like to assure you that all this can be done, and I shouldn't have any problems with it.
* - The original term "dwójkowych akcji" (literal translation: double/dual action) is a sports term that I think refers to any scoring play that involves one player assisting another. I can't think of an English term for this nor am I familiar with Polish sports terminology. I am guessing he meant he was looking for someone open to pass the ball to, perhaps someone cutting to the hoop, etc., instead of giving up the ball sooner as he should have.
