jk... just read that he is coming in with other scrubs for a look. 34 is old for a player however I loved watching this guy at ASU however Frieder killed his game by only playing him with his back to the basket, that and 10 knee surgeries.

I'll give you the knee surgeries, but the guy was just flat out lazy.

I saw Mario play at ASU before he tore an ACL. He never fully recovered his full athletic ability after the injury at ASU nor in the NBA. Before the knee problems in college he had "star" written all over him. He was one of the best athletic big men I had seen on the college level. Certainly Mario had some attitude problems which became more obvious after he turned pro.

I guess unfortunately, it was too bad so sad.

Super Mario's laziness, low basketball IQ, and knee injuries were the biggest factors in his demise as a basketball player not Bill Frieder. I'm not surprised by him getting a camp invite though, the Suns usually give non-NBA UA and ASU players a shot for PR purposes. If he actually makes the roster the Suns are in trouble.

Kerr brought him in just to tell him that ASU sucks.

The only thing I remember about him is that he airballed two free throws and both teams laughed at him.

I do believe that ASU had a winning record against uOFa when he played while at ASU. Not much to hang you hat on as uOFa has owned ASU in BB for about 20+ years. Though the tide may change as ASU seems to have a decent coach and recruiter now and Lute can't coach forever.

ASU's decent into purgatory pretty much coincides with the firing of Ned Wulk. Once Ned Wulk got the then new arena (forget name) he recruited some tremendous basketball talent. I never figured out why ASU let Wulk go after he lost several players as I recall to the pros one year and then not give him the chance to rebuild the program again. I think it was the year after Alton Lister went pro that Wulk was fired. There were several good players on that team (maybe someone can look it up). Ned Wulk loved the run and gun style which made the Suns just that much more enticing.

Anyway ASU did not lack for talent back then.

I have been dealing with personal struggles in regards to my college allegiance. I have been a U of A fan since I was 7 years old and I was on a soccer team named the Wildcats. My parents bought me a bunch of U of A gear so they became my team. Now I find myself at ASU in their Global Business program. It's been tough. I still lean towards U of A because I am loyal when it comes to sports, but I recently bought an ASU sweatshirt and am trying to support my school.

If it's any help with your struggle, being an ASU fan will get you more women than being a UofA fan.

Especially while at asu.... :)

You can support both teams/schools simultaneously. The only exception is Football, you must follow the Gold, and it has always been found in Tempe. I have enjoyed both schools since I was a kid (except UofA football) and have found a peaceful co-existence. Though some may say I am a house divided, I tend to think of it as 'hedging my bet' and supporting the great state of Arizona. If UofA wins any sports championship, I am happy... however, if they win a football championship before we do...:thud:

Lute Olsen is a fantastic coach, and a good person. Tucson is a decent place to live. UofA is a great school. Wildcat fans are a lot of fun and very loyal. ASU has hot chics. ASU has great programs within a good overall school. The Valley is the best place to live (except during the summer) in Arizona. Sun Devil fans are generally decent natured.

I'm sorry but thats crazy. Thats like me saying my 2 favorite NBA teams are the Suns and the Lakers. Or that I bleed Maze and gold, and scarlet and grey.

Back on topic, Mao is right, bringing in Mario is just a PR move, he won't make the team....now Ike Diagou, there's a former ASU player worth having on your team (though he probably wouldn't fit w/ D'Antoni's system).
