I found this interesting:

SLAM: Have you been watching Amare play in Vegas?
Marion: Nope.

Ben Osborne says:
Nice work, Chris. Was that the much-rumored hating coming out in Marion’s comments about Amare? Read like that to me.

Chris O says:
Yeah, as soon as I asked him if he had been watching him, that nope jumped out right away, and then there was just silence from him until I asked him the next question.

I didn't see much in that interview to suggest the issues people keep looking for. Yes, being shopped irriated him, but when the target is KG or previously T-Mac, it is hard to say he is being disvalued by the Suns.

I was intrigued by his his response to the three point question.

SLAM: There’s talk of him wanting to add a three-point shot to his game. Is that something you’d encourage? Bill Walton thinks it’s a bad idea.

Marion: I mean, how you gonna tell another player not to add another dimension to their game? Basically you’re telling them stop where they’re at and add nothing else. That’s not encouraging. Amare’s a very talented player and if he’s gonna do that he’s gonna do that. Everybody got aspects of their game they can work on. It’s either scoring, or passing the ball or playing defense, there’s all kinds of stuff they can do. They can make themselves better and their teammates better.

I thought that was the only thing to take away from this article.

Marion's still jealous.

I guess anything and everything he says will be interpreted as jealousy. I don't see it, but then again I don't see him as all consumed the way some people do.

FROM DAN BICKLEY OF AZCENTRAL.COM. SUNS ARTICLE ABOUT MARION. PLEASE READ ALL IF U HAVE NOT SEEN IT:

"After shutting it down because of mysterious ailments the past two summers, Marion has all but burned his Olympic bridges.

Barring injuries to others or an administrative change of heart, the coaches rightfully have decided that it wouldn't be fair to other players who have made the sacrifice, and Marion will not be in Beijing without buying a ticket.

It's fair to wonder whether Marion's no-show act in Vegas (even the injured Dwyane Wade showed up to lend support) is a bad omen. He might be angry over another summer of trade talks, or that he likely won't get a contract extension this summer. Stay tuned.

But unless Steve Nash decides to risk injury and play for Team Canada (unlikely) or P.J. Brown decides to play elsewhere during the upcoming NBA season, an AWOL Matrix is the only potentially bad news staining this summer."

--------------------------------------

Hmm. Add this to the supposed "Nope" and silence after asked if he saw Amare play in Vegas - I think Marion is one unhappy, jealous cat with the need of his own spotlight.

I honestly think this season will be the last of Marion. Get ready to fill his spot, D'Antoni. Marion has worn out his welcome by now. So long, number 31.

Anyone who quotes Bickley as a source, would lose any credibility previously held. But in this case...

Oh okay. Bickley is a "bad guy" ?? I did not know that. Interesting..

Curious, do you have an explanation over why Marion said, "Nope" over seeing Amare play in Vegas and why he was a no-show?

It doesn't cross your mind that Marion might be........bitter over something?

Why havn't the Suns given Marion an extension? Same thing happened to Joe Johnson and he fled the season after.

says the man who posts 7 year old footage of Grant Hill as proof that he still has pretty good lift? What's that saying about people in glass houses?

Because he's overpaid and not nearly the player that Joe Johnson is when it comes to over-all ability? Oh yeah, Joe Johnson was much younger.

I hope Marion leaves when his contract is up, one less player to complain about in the playoffs.

The words "Marion", "extension" and "Suns" shouldn't be used in the same sentence right now. Unless it's "The Suns better not give Marion an extension."

Two years from now when Marion is an unrestricted free agent (he is NOT opting out next summer), IMHO his market value will be such that the Suns are likely to be the only team willing to offer more than MLE. I'd like the Suns to be looking for someone to replace him, preferably somewho who can play post defense, but even if all they get is immediate cap relief I think they'll be fine.

just like the Suns were NOT trading KT this year, right George? I love these statements of fact from you as if you know better than everyone else, even though you are consistently proven wrong about these statements, time and time again.

Hey, I'm sure the Suns would jump for joy if Marion would opt out of the last year of his contract at $17.1 million. Want to make a money bet that he'll opt out?

One this is for sure. You'll be an ass over and over.

You actually believe that nobody will offer him more than the MLE? After we gave Boris 9million per? Are you serious George?

I have to disagree. Unless Marion suffers from a ton of injuries in the next two years and loses his athleticism, he's going to get more than the MLE, much much more. Oh, and he deserves it. I'm far from a Marion fluffer, but he has more value than a lot of people on this board think.

I'm a Dodger fan and I remember when J.D. Drew opted out of his 11 million dollar contract to try to get something better. I just couldn't believe he did that because I thought nobody would give him anything close to that amount. Sure enough, he got a better contract from the Red Sox.

So if Marion opts out, does this mean Suns have ample room to sign another key free agent next offseason?

If so, who are the candidates?

Actually, I wouldn't mind another key free agent taking the place of Marion. Somebody who can shoot well.

This can open any need for a rebounder/power forward via the 2008 Hawks pick - which should be top 10.
