No, Marion is a very good player. No need to ruin the team. Only trade him if you get a good deal, someone that can definetly make a difference, like Garnett. Marion fits in with this team very well and next year can move back to his normal position and not have to guard guys that have 3+ inches and 30+ pounds on him. He has been good for us so there is no need to trade him unless we have to.

Anyone think Ratliff could be a Suns success?

No. He can't score, he's always injured, and he's way overpaid. Not only that, but his block numbers have been way down the last two years.

Just my opinion.

I'd rather take Miles + Jack for Marion than Ratliff.

Didn't Ratliff have MicroFracture? I'm not so sure about having our whole front line like that.

I'm not worried about Dirk as long as we have a healty team. Actually, TT's defense on him was adequate for most part. With another year learning to defend the bigs under the tutlage of KT, he'd only be better.

What would we get for Marion?

Chicago: Deng, Duhon, Songaila for Marion
Boston: Pierce for Marion

I don't think either Chicago or Boston would make those deals. In fact I'm sure Boston would not trade Pierce for Marion at this point. I really can't see any deal where Shawn Marion ends up in Chicago. By most accounts he and Scott Skiles really do not care for each other.

Hoopshype this morning has a quote from D'Antoni that makes it sound like he's made up his mind to stand pat for next season.

Wonder if that includes keeping draft picks?

The quote was something about wanting to keep the team intact for a championship run, so it didn't address draft picks one way or the other. It's very unlikely that someone at the end of the first round will be able to crack the rotation (assuming everyone is healthy), so my guess is that they'll either move up, draft-and-stash a Euro or two, or dump at least one of the picks.

Some Raptors fans suggested Marion and Barbosa for #1 and Villanueva. I don't think much of Charlie though but I really like LaMarcus Aldridge in the draft putting him alongside Amare.
Note: The Raptors are under the cap and could give Phoenix immediate salary cap relief.

I just read Blazer gossip saying they don't want the #4 and are looking to trade it. It's possible Aldridge could fall that low. Don't know if they'd be interested in anymore draft picks at all but I would love the #4 and the #31. But if they want to stand pat I can't argue with that much. I've always been torn on the trading Marion issue so I'm happy either way as long as we get another point guard. I would like to see us draft Sene if he falls to 27 and leave him abroad for a year or two.

I'm usually against trading Marion, but this really wouldn't be too bad of an offer. I still wouldn't do it. I'm not so sure about Miles, but it could definetly turn out good.

Miles is pure poison.

My concern with him would be injury. Otherwise, I'm quite confident that he'd turn great in Suns system. At least, he attacks the rim better than Marion. In anyway, I was just saying it's better to get him than Ratliff.

Even if Ratliff were a specialized stiff on the bench he'd be better for us. Miles and Randolph are horrible teammates that the Blazers need to unload. Enough about the Blazers though...

Horrible because they were on the Blazers. JimJackson, TT were rumored to be bad influence in the locker room too. How did they turn out?

You gotta envision what the Suns environment would do to this guy. and that's why so many others' garbage players turned out our treasure!

Nate McMillan is a good coach. He didn't deserve the crap Miles and Randolph pulled. They went and dressed in street clothes at halftime one game because they felt they weren't played enough. The Blazers problems were always front office and player hijinks. They've always had coaches whom deserved respect. Mo Cheeks is a class act. Adelman ain't half bad either.

Miles has been a disaster everywhere, not just in Portland. No thank you. Besides, remember that he used to be good friends with Quentin Richardson and probably still is.

What is it about Miles that gets some people so excited. He's a head case and the Suns don't want nor need one.

BTW, TT did not have a reputation for being a problem, just for not performing up to his ability. He's also had the bad luck of playing with teams that don't run and PG's who would rather shoot than pass (Cassell and Marbury come to mind).

How about trading Marion for a somewhat decent player and a high draft pick to a team thats under the cap? I'd rather we had a high draft pick and freed up cash than Marion right now. Diaw is already decent enough to play SF with nice upside yet to go. I dont care if Marion is better or not....his salary bites. Sarver is willing to spend money but he keeps a close eye on the bottomline. He doesnt seem too willing to go over the cap.
