As long as the kid doesn't get picked off second in the bottom of the 9th again he has GOT to stay in the lineup.

Didn't Byrnes get picked off a few games later? He'll be staying in the lineup, too. :)

What happens when Chad gets back and Reynolds is still hitting?

I don't know, can one of them learn to play catcher real quick because the Snakes are getting nothing out of that position offensively.

A young guy going off for a big offensive display is not unusual. Pitchers don't have extensive scouting reports on him, so they test him until they figure him out. It usually only takes a few games before they have his holes marked in bright red, and he won't see a single pitch in his zone.

I'm sure Reynolds is a good prospect, but in no way should anyone count on him keeping this up. Unless he's Tony Gwynn, even great young hitters don't know how to make quick adjustments in their plate approach.

No, but their Hitting coach should.

Interesting enough, Kevin Seitzer can probably relate to Reynolds. He came up and replaced god, otherwise known as George Brett. He had an insane rookie year, like .330 with some power. Seitzer was always a professional hitter, but he never matched his rookie season.

I think Seitzer is smart enough to know you don't fill a rookie's head full of instruction while they're on a hitting streak. They actually told Reynolds to stop thinking so much and that's when he started going on a tear. The time to adjust for Reynolds is when this ride is over. We'll see then what kind of hitter he really is.

Good point. As long as the coaching can help him through the inevitable pitchers-catch-up-to-him period.

Tracy should be trade fodder

Depending on what the Dbacks can get in return and that Reynolds can continue to produce once he settles in more, I agree 100%. Clearly there is no way reynolds can keep this up...this is simply short term variance. The key will be what he can do in the long term.

I just wonder what the Dbacks can really expect in return for Tracy.

Given his salary, probably a mid-level prospect or two I'm guessing. He's not overpaid by any means, but given he production I would say that would be the going rate.
